What did you think of the episode ?
Re: 5x06 "Movin’ Out" Watch & Discussion thread
also, i for a while wanted to be surgeon. it was a serious passion of mine but i realized in time that that wasn't for me. i mean, being a doctor is secret shame ???? what is so effing shameful about probably the noblest profession in the world. and i loved kurt's answer "of course, how could i forget the numerous conversations about you wanting to be a doctor". GOLD STAR for mister Kurt Hummel.

what does this mean? does glee went up? it was still in the "loser" category according to that article.Over at Fox, fading “The X Factor” (#2: 4.1/ 7), which slipped by 47 percent from the 7.7/16 in the overnights on the year-ago evening, led into a weak (and distant third-place) 2.9/ 5 for “Glee” at 9 p.m. At this point, “Glee” is unlikely to benefit by moving back into the Tuesday 8 p.m. hour on Feb. 25. Like any high school-based show, the shelf life is limited.

Don't you know? In Glee world, any other job than one in the performing arts is a shameful job. Accountant? dull job. Mechanic? too blue collar. Waiter? failure.tanita_mors wrote:also, i for a while wanted to be surgeon. it was a serious passion of mine but i realized in time that that wasn't for me. i mean, being a doctor is secret shame ???? what is so effing shameful about probably the noblest profession in the world. and i loved kurt's answer "of course, how could i forget the numerous conversations about you wanting to be a doctor". It was amazing how quickly they ruined NY in this episode.
BLAM! was completely the focus and I love how they start in McKinley go off to NY, participated in the only non Lima Group number ever on the show, give the NY trio a freaking Piano and then jet back to McKinley for the ending number.
Meanwhile, Kurt/Rachel/Santana have a few lines in a group number.
I did like Matt Morrison singing and Artie did nail his "Honesty" number.
Just really surprised at this point they are still trying to make Melissa/Marley "happen." She's a pretty girl with a nice voice but she's simply not cutting it. Ditto Jake/Jacob, he can sing , he can dance, (though without the spark Harry had) but it's all well done with no flash or sizzle at all.
And having Ryder beg is not a good fit, and geeze this poor waif girl has two hot guys just taking turns wanting her so badly.
Unfortunately the show runners/writers are so in love with their BLAM that they gave a preview of NY after graduation. Man, at this point I'd rather they drag the school year out and let the NY trio have their cute banter together unspoiled.
Just , WOW, the NY characters were blatantly used as props on their side of the narrative just to have the Blam have the spotlight and focus. Sam wants his junk to be praised as big as a car and yea, all Black people look alike. Even the one thing nice, his color blind relationship with Mercedes has to be ruined for a cheap joke. I do feel bad for Darren, some of his dialogue, how do you say with a straight face that wanting to be a doctor is some sort of shame, seriously.
Laughing how two teenaged engaged boys in the loft "hug" each other . One would have thought they would tear each others clothes off or at least kiss, but they hug others first and then each other. They always have the least amount of chemistry and spark when they are actually a couple, it's freaky how Glee manages that.

Actually, now that you mention it . . . I knew several no-talent people who got that kind of awed reception in high school and who were subsequently stunned by how no-talent they actually were once they were taken out of their little zone of popularity . . . Wish Glee would do that.Jellyrolls wrote:The only problem with your well thought out post, @Ranwing, is that in the three years we've known Blaine, he has never faced any hostility to his performances. He starts singing, and everyone (even people who have shown hate for the Glee Club in the past) start singing and dancing along. Everyone stops to listen when he sings. Audience start to cheer the moment he opens his mouth at a competition.

There is a small peck on the cheek when they hugged but even that would be impossible to notice if it wasn't for the gifs. Sam and Rachel looked more like a couple with all those glances and dancing than engaged Klaine.Laughing how two teenaged engaged boys in the loft "hug" each other . Re: 5x06 "Movin’ Out" Watch & Discussion thread
I try not laugh at klainers, but the no kissing scenes were the 'joke' of last episode. People simply don't get why two teenager who are engage hugged all the time, I understood if they're unallowed to kiss twice, so the scene when Sam and Blaine got to the loft it doesnt matter. But what about the other one,in which they had this profound conversation? Seriously Glee? Not even a peck on the lips?. I've read some klainers who're furious, and other who say that is fine because was also a cute moment. I'm sorry but sometimes I don't believe these two are boyfriends, back then as friends they had more interaction.
And Blaine being ashamed because he wanted to be a doctor, that's not a shame. Well in could be in certain circumstances like when that persona has never shown any quality to be a doctor or its grades are not the best in chemistry and biology, so that why some people could feel surprised. But I insist is not a shame, just a surprise.

I didn't notice the kiss. I wonder if that was scripted, or if that was just Darren deciding to add it in there.sheny wrote:There is a small peck on the cheek when they hugged but even that would be impossible to notice if it wasn't for the gifs. I'll have to watch the full scene again to see if I still think this later, but looking at that git, there is no warmth in that hug. Kurt looks like he's just hugging a random friend he saw on the street. I got warmer hugs from a couple of work colleagues I haven't seen in a few months at the meeting I went to yesterday than there is between Kurt and Blaine here (and in the other hug).
Seriously, this is the couple in the lead for best chemistry at the PCA's?
Re: 5x06 "Movin’ Out" Watch & Discussion thread
That purple sweater that Kurt is wearing--some folks noticed that it's the same sweater one of Rachel's dads was wearing in the Valentines Day episode in season 3.
Re: 5x06 "Movin’ Out" Watch & Discussion thread
I tried rewatching the Kurt edit and plowed through the eight fricking minutes. (Eight minutes of Kurt only, wait I think it will soon combine with Klaine edit...shit!) Never has an edit been so unsatisfying. Yes, Kurt was the only thing to concentrate because I have nothing else to say except: Can the Glee people ever make something with a start, middle and beginning. I hated that cheating reference which got ziltch reaction from Blaine. Why bring that up when it's treated nothing but a joke.
Kurt was way beyond wise for his years...and he said himself, writers will make him be there for Blaine in the big, scary NY. At his peck and call, no matter what he'll want himself, support and hold widdle Blainey Waineys hand. etc.etc. It's all just so effed up and Kurt's storyline is again hanging in the air.
I want to be proven wrong, but I have no reason to believe that Blaine will triumph in everything once he comes to NY. My words are so scrambled and messy because, really I don't have nothing constructive to say about the episode except Chris' wonderful face, body, presence and voice. Glee itself has drained me out.

Not that I'm not amused when Klainers are whining and complaining again, but it really is ridiculous how afraid Glee/Fox is of the gay PDA.
Here we have a tv show who prides themselves about their gay representation and stories, yet they clearly don't want their gay couples to kiss or show any form of intimicy.
I don't understand why the media still keep kissing Glee's ass when they are promoting to be so 'gay-friendly', but don't call them out on censoring the gay PDA.
Well, at least the Backlot did, but still.....
-----------------------------------------------------
Haha, I just remember this 'Klainer' on another forum, who kept forecasting last season that Glee would not show Kurt's 2nd audition for NYADA, because it was not important enough in the narrative (duh), and Blaine was their goto singer anyway while Kurt only sang "when it mattered".
And now they have shown Kurt's audition (and it was glorious!), but not Blaine's!

Re: 5x06 "Movin’ Out" Watch & Discussion thread
I've always thought that biggest problem is that the writers aren't geuninely vested in showing Kurt/Rachel/Santana's struggles post high school in NY. NYADA doesn't interest them and even Rachel as a star doesn't interest them beyond getting her the endgame Broadway success. It's almost as if they had to do it because the characters were popular and FOX wouldn't let them let go of them.
It's just odd, Rachel as the HS 'star' they loved, but they can't fit her in post HS in NY, she doesn't even sing that much anymore. We still have no idea what Santana wants and her and Kurt were reduced to being sidekicks to the visiting Blam.
High School shenanigans is what they think is their go to bread and butter, and the HS choir room they think is "easy". (It's not really because they can't even do that right but that's another story.) By Season 3 even the original cast probably wouldn't' have survived another year of the SL's they were rehashing and one would have thought the writers would have wanted a fresh, post HS career arc in NY to boost things, but I get the feeling that the NY narrative for them is an imposition. Or maybe it's because they are stumped how to write it in because Ryan Murphy insists that most of the screen time and songs has to be Lima.
At the same time this episode clearly pointed out they've gotten so used to using Kurt and company as peripheral side characters; all of NY was about Chord's dreams to be a model, a little Samchel teasing, and Kurt reassuring Blaine he will be a huge success and will kill his NYADA audition, which offscreen he did. And
Blam runs back in time to be back in the big McKinely Number.
I just think they've completely lost interest or don't know anymore how to write Rachel, Kurt and and Santana as lead characters. They literally seem incapable of it. Glee gives lip service that they are their stars but I don't think their heart is in it. OH well, too late to do anything about it anymore.

Just think about how much less likely the gay PDA will be when they move to the 8:00 hour in February.Glorfindel wrote:Not that I'm not amused when Klainers are whining and complaining again, but it really is ridiculous how afraid Glee/Fox is of the gay PDA.

Honestly, I couldn't care less about the kisses. Conversations that help them grow as a couple and show us why they are in love are far more important than a kiss. It is in the conversations and interactions that builds the characters up, and leads to the chemistry.
Unfortunately, last nights conversation between the two weren't really growth building. Yes, it showed Kurt being supportive of Blaine, but between the "If you cheated again, I won't take sex abuse as an excuse" and the fact that in the year and a half they dated, Blaine never mentioned here "secret shameful" desire of wanting to be a doctor shows two things: 1. Klaine is no where near ready to think about marriage and shouldn't be engaged if Kurt still has trust issues, and 2. Klaine really doesn't know each other if Blaine is not ready to share a "secret shame" like wanting to be a doctor with the guy he has known for 2 and a half years, a year and a half of which they dated him.
Re: 5x06 "Movin’ Out" Watch & Discussion thread
I've seen this too in my nieces and nephews circle of friends. They were actively involved with the drama club for six years, and I went to all of their performances. I got to know there friends quite well, and I saw the egos these kids had--that they were the greatest thing onstage, everyone loved them, and they were megatalented. Four of these kids have gone on to performing arts schools, and three of them have not had much luck getting into performances, and the fourth is doing quite well at his school, which is a lot more competitive than the state schools the other three attend. Even when they were freshman in high school, I picked out the one who had a shot at being successful, and the three who would struggle with it. I think the three are starting to realize now, in their junior year in college, that being the best at something in your high school doesn't mean that you are going to be the best when you are matched up with the best from other high schools once you hit college.AnneNeville wrote:Actually, now that you mention it . . . This would be an interesting storyline for Glee to focus on, unfortunately, I don't think they would go there with Blaine, and I'm not really sure that Darren could handle this without coming across like a whiney baby. We've seen glimpse of this kind of stuff with Kurt, and Chris has and would certainly convey that storyline in a way that has an impact (not that we want Kurt not to succeed).
Re: 5x06 "Movin’ Out" Watch & Discussion thread
I only saw some gifs on tumbrl and have zero interest to ever watch the episode. But didn't Kurt fold laundry at one point of the episode? I am sorry, but as much as I hate Klaine, that is silly and on a greater scale also very dismissive towards the LGBT community. That'd never happen with any heterosexual couple.
Ces't la vie. My two little cents to the episode.
