Robodog featuring the voice talent of Chris Colfer.
Chris Colfer, Ron Perlman to Voice 'Robodog' Anime Feature
The 'Glee' and 'Sons of Anarchy' stars will voice the two canine characters in the first original production from Marza Animation Planet.
TOKYO – Chris Colfer (Glee) and Ron Perlman (Sons of Anarchy) will voice the lead canine characters in Robodog, Marza Animation Planet's first original production, a 3D CG feature directed by Henry F. Anderson III (Stuart Little).
OUR EDITOR RECOMMENDS
"The kid in me is barely being contained right now -- I'm so happy to get the chance to work on my first animated film," said Colfer of the role.
"We are absolutely ecstatic that Chris has chosen Robodog as his first foray into animation. Coupled with Ron's extraordinary voiceover work, the duo’s talent will make for great chemistry onscreen," said Marza's CEO Masanao Maeda.
Perlman's voiceover work has included Disney's Tangled and Fox's Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.
Marza is a subsidiary of Japanese game-maker Sega Sammy, has offices in L.A. and Tokyo, and worked on last year's 3D CG epic Space Pirate Captain Harlock for Toei Animation.
Robodog is currently in pre-production, with voiceover work set to start on Feb.1.
The UK's Timeless Films will be representing Robodog at the European Film Market in Berlin next month.
I'm so excited that Chris will be featured in an animated movie!

Re: Robodog featuring the voice talent of Chris Colfer.
That is so cool since it also says he is one of the two lead characters.
Contrary to what some may think, Chris is also a big "dog person" since they have canines in the Colfer family home back in Clovis, CA.

Re: Robodog featuring the voice talent of Chris Colfer.
Just came here to post about this. This is good news!
Chris must be thrilled. This is something he can do while Glee is also taking up a big part of his time.
Robodogs, lol.
And LEAD character too.....with Ron Perlman! (love his voice)
I'm expecting some sort of old dog + young dog/rookie dynamic here.

His voice is gorgeous - I'll always remember his 'Beauty and the Beast' back in the 80's with Linda Hamilton.

More details on the canine characters..
From VARIETY:

Sounds very promising, I expect Ron Perlman to be full "hellboy" gruff voice mood.

“Glee” star Chris Colfer and Ron Perlman have come on board to Marza Animation Planet’s animated film “Robodog,” to be directed by Henry F. Anderson III (“Stuart Little”). Timeless Films is handling international rights and will present “Robodog” to buyers at next month’s European Film Market in Berlin. Paul Wang is producing “Robodog” with Robert Reece and William Schneider writing. Voiceover work starts Feb. 1. Colfer’s voicing an energetic but naive robotic dog and Perlman is supplying the voice to a curmudgeonly real dog, set in his ways with little patience for anything new. The project is Colfer’s first animated role. He also wrote and starred in “Struck By Lightning,” directed by Brian Dannelly. Perlman’s voiceover work includes “Tangled,” “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters” and the upcoming “The Book of Life.”
Sounds very promising, I expect Ron Perlman to be full "hellboy" gruff voice mood.

So delighted with these little, but important tidbits we're gettig: a new job and editing his book.
And I really like these two voices together: Ron as this gruff old dog and Chris with his upright and young voice, and how overdue this was, working as a voice actor?!

Re: Robodog featuring the voice talent of Chris Colfer.
So happy for Chris! This can be such a great project for him and I'm so happy to see him branching out from Glee professionally. And for a lead role!
I've loved Ron Perlman ever since Beauty and the Beast (and does that date me) and he's got an amazingly sexy voice. Cannot wait to see what kind of mad chemistry we get between these two.

Can't wait to see them promoting it together, too! Kurt from Glee with Clay from SoA, now that's a pairing!

Well Voice over work starts next week, Feb. 1.
The nice thing about being a lead character for an original animated character is that many times they will adjust the character's facial and body tics for the actor portraying them.
Did we mention he's one of the two LEADS?

Well..... technically this is his 2nd voice actor job: Chris was a "drama dog" in Marmaduke (he said 1 word, I believe).valkeakuulas wrote:And I really like these two voices together: Ron as this gruff old dog and Chris with his upright and young voice, and how overdue this was, working as a voice actor?!

How romantic that show was (and now looking back at it it all looks so camp, lol).
Ron's voice was like butta, in a sexy, rough way: melt worthy.

I'm guessing it's an animation company that has done work for other movies/TV series and it's their first home grown "baby".
There is sooo much potential upside with this down the line...
ETA: they do alot of game console stuff including Sonic...(is that Nintendo?) the animation should be awesome...

Re: Robodog featuring the voice talent of Chris Colfer.
oh gosh i am so happy for him! can't wait for this film to come out. yayyyyyyy!
i wonder, since many animated movies involve a lot of singing ... will chris SING? they didn't say so may be not but what if he DOES SING? even just one song? omfg! please somebody pour some icy water over my head because i am definitely hallucinating!
update: ok i just poured a bucket of ice water over my own head. this is anime. not disney/american cartoons. so 99% of the chance no singing by the characters but a song or two by some popular singers at the beginning and/or end credits, since pretty much all japanese anime follow this structure.
