And that four year old boy is autistic and Tara, has been super attached to him since he was born, she is like his furry bodyguard.

nobody is dissing dogs here. cats and dogs are both great companions. but like people, there are lots of individual variations. also remember that not all human owners are the same. the same animal can react differently to different owners if they are treated very differently.
if you love cats/dogs, adopt one, and love him/her unconditionally. that's what he/she will give you in return.

Cat lover here, but maybe that's because I was bitten by a dog as a small child (which was probably my own fault, but I didn't know any better back then).
We always had cats when I was growing up, but unfortunately my hubby is allergic to cats.
One of my sister's dogs (she trains stray dogs who were resqued in Greece so they can find them a new home) apparently fell in love with me and I couldn't resist those cute puppy eyes either. He's always near me when they visit, and I'd almost say he is a cat born in a dog's body, that's how cuddly he behaves, but without the haughty "I'm the boss and you're my slave, human" mentality that cats have.
So now we're thinking about adopting him, but we still need to work out the rules (these resqued stray dogs usually have some mental trauma, like seperation anxiety disorder, but we still have to be able to leave him alone for a while and e.g. for him not to sleep in our bedroom) and who does the walking and other chores that come with having a dog. Falling in love with an animal and adopting them is nice, but you really have to think it through and make sure you can take care of them.

I love all animals and in my life, I've had dogs, cats, various rodents, birds, snakes and a few lizards. The only thing that I'm lacking is a horse (which will probably have to wait a few years more). Cats do have a very special spot in my heart because they are so good at surprising you at how perceptive they are.
My first cat was a rescue named Freebee and her favorite place to cuddle was resting on my chest/stomach while I was working at the computer or watching tv (of course, this would require me to lean the chair back all the way). When I had my gallbladder removed, I was afraid that she would try to jump on me like normal. Instead she just settled herself on my lap and didn't try to get into her usual position. She waited until I moved her there myself after I'd healed up a bit.
Besides... cats are totally badass! Besides rescuing children from neighborhood dogs they can beat up on allogators:
Bears? No problem for a cat.
And they're loved by heavy metal artists.

I love cats and dogs, but I'm a cat person.
That cat was so brave.
But I feel sad because the dog is going to be put down, which is understandable, but I wish its owners had confined it to their own grounds properly since they knew he hated children and they had a neighbour with a small boy. This incident need not have happened.

Yup, usually I'm not that judgemental but this one I lay squarely on the owners of the dog. It was so irresponsible of them.

Re: Chris Colfer Tweets
Speaking as an animal lover and someone who has owned dogs in the past, once you have a dog that has a record of biting someone, they will bite again. It's inevitable and I'm speaking from personal experience. My uncle had a dog (an English Sheepdog) that bit two people before he bit me. I was bitten in the face right below my right eye (which I could have easily lost) and on my nose. Thankfully they called in a plastic surgeon to do the intial repair work so I didn't need further surgery and I healed with almost no visible scarring. The sad thing is that after he mauled my face, the dog went on to bite my cousin in the throat.
With dogs it's a huge safety liability and you can never really trust a dog once they start a habit of biting. I completely agree that this dog's owners are fully responsible for not confining and training their dog properly, but unfortunate it's the animal that ends up paying the price for his owner's carelessness.

Re: Chris Colfer Tweets
He hasn't said the price yet. Maybe it's one of those: 'Ask the sales person for more information' type of a "price".

Yep but also just more confident (as some get older without ever gaining that), and it is heart warming.
