I posted this on Tumblr about the upcoming Klaine nuptials...

Looking at the squees of joy on the Glee spoilers and Klaine tag, you’d think that something really momentous is happening with the storyline. But what quickly became clear to me as how undiscerning the Klaine fans are, and while they are demanding (i.e. whiney), they’re not demanding anything of substance. In fact, with how happy they are about the upcoming Klaine wedding, they’re showing that they can be appeased with a few crumbs tossed in their direction.

They don’t want deep, purposeful storylines that push the characters (Blaine in particular) to mature and grow. In fact, they show a lot of resentment that Kurt is no longer the young boy who would gaze dreamingly at Blaine and is now a mature man who is struggling to decide how to keep the man he’s supposed to be in love with in his life when there is so much proof that they are not well suited to be together. He’s still a romantic, but it’s been tempered by hurt and life experience. Blaine was given a lot of storyline that in the hands of good writers would have presented a lot of room for growth. After the cheating episode, he could have matured and recognized how selfish he is and how badly he treats the man that he keeps calling “the love of his life”. One would think that given how invested the Klaine and Blaine fans are in Blaine’s storyline that they would demand Blaine to grow.

But that’s not the case. They just want the dapper guy that they met back in Never Been Kissed and the dewy eyed boy who adores him. They want kisses and romantic duets and having them stare longingly at one another. They don’t want storylines that challenge the characters and the relationship to grow and evolve. And they certainly don’t care that repeatedly forcing Klaine back together has diminished Kurt. They want all the superficial trappings of a romance and ignore the rot hiding underneath. So they’ll ignore that Blaine had been living (and having sex) with another man only shortly before the wedding. They’ll ignore the very real relationship problems that have never been adequately examined and are no closer to being resolved than they were in season two. They don’t care that the show is just wallpapering over all the issues that have repeatedly split them apart or that the two of them have never been able to live together without fighting all the time. No, they just want a ceremony, two boys in tuxs and talking about love and forever, when in reality anyone not watching through shipper glasses will know that they’ll be divorced once the honeymoon glow fades. They’ll hoard their crumbs and trumpet about how amazing it all is. In a way, they have no choice because if they opened their eyes they would realize just how little they are really being given.

Your observations all valid will be of no avail to the Klaine mob. Theirs is a world of cotton candy, Team Edward vs. Team Jacob t-shirts, selfies and bffs. An endless "Teenage Dream", if you will, with the song playing on repeat in the background. I don't think that that is surprising since Klaine had a very flimsy foundation.

Now, I am one of those rare fans of Glee that never was on board with Kurt annd Blaine. I had watched the progression of their relationship and I never understood how Blaine became attracted to Kurt. Now don't misunderstand me. Not because Kurt is not attractive but because Blaine was always played as oblivious to Kurt's feelings and I never got what he actually liked about Kurt. I got how Kurt was attracted to Blaine because it was conveyed to me clearly by Chris' acting. The longing was always conveyed by Kurt to my mind and in a way, Klainers used Chris' acting as a cipher for their attraction to Blaine and by extension, Darren. That proxy is the reason why there is so much hate towards Chris' portrayal of Kurt if it at all deviated from their vicarious experience of the longing of Kurt in relation to Blaine in season 2.

The one sidedness of the attraction for me was reinforced in Tested. Blaine loved Kurt's 'need' for him but he was not attracted to Kurt himself. And the Klainers actually like that dynamic.

So as unbelievably fugly as the above is. It is what is. All a couple's problems can be solved by longing stares, a wedding and the right soundtrack, a la Twilight. Which probably also means that Kurt must now have Blaine's vampire baby.

I went off Klaine and Blaine after Silly Love Songs.

I did not believe Blaine was that oblivious and that episode made me want to slap Blaine in the face.

Boy, did that episode cause a lot of die hard Kurtsies to jump ship.

Many wanted Kurt to be pursued and desired and that episode disappointed many. As I saw in the Klaine thread days later after that episode aired, that many Kurtsies left and there started to be an invasion of Blarren stans that eventually they took over the thread.

It appears that the white tux and black bow tie outfit that Chris instagrammed is the same white tux worn of set spoiler photos of Matt, Chord and Mike.




So IMO it's probably not his wedding tux, as the poster HeatherMorrisDaily said the grooms wear a  black tux (spoiled as Blaine's) and a blue tux.

Isn't supposed to be a last minute decision? So probably after blaine gave Kurt the big shocking surprise of 'we're getting married too', he then change clothing.

:sigh: At this point I don't know what to think about this crap, I think I will join to Kim zen attitude and don't bitter about this stuff. Or at least try to take a deep breath until the hell is broadcast on tv...ok that was too much lol

Hey! Just got into this site. The proposal was everything I wanted it to be and more with the exception of Finn not being there of course. I wonder if they'll play same love and maybe Blaine will whisper "courage" in Kurt's ear. Looking forward to Season 6.

Pretty much what I was expecting. Trading on nostalgia of the original group, too much focus on the Special Snowflake and Lea again proving that she's the poor man's Idina. That brief bit that I heard of Let It Go just keeps showing that Lea is (not yet) anywhere in Idina's league.

Yes, he's the overweight true "underdog" (per the spoilers) who sings like Ottis Redding.  I think he sings "Mustang Sally" in one of the first few episodes of the season.

And all he is in the promo is a silent prop.

They are sure banking on the old nostalgia, , Mr. Shue, Sue, the Warblers and the cheerleaders (although Blaine is not a Warbler anymore and even as their director should not be in a Warbler uniform, and ditto with Santana and Brittany as 'alumni' cheerleaders, wtf?! ).

So.....breaking this promo down, we get:
- a 60% focus on Rachel, trying to imitate Idina Menzel yet again (and failing yet again),
- 30% of Blaine Warbler, including hair gel, blazer, and jumping on furniture,
with the remaining 10% consisting of:
- our beautiful prop Kurt, with no dialogue or own storyline shown in the preview, and who's only purpose in the promo (and the show it seems) is to lure in viewers as the still most popular male character.
- the 2 original teachers to give it some whiff of quality and nostalgia,
- a teaser of Brittana dancing as hot lesbians cheerleaders,
- the new new ND and some of the originals (who shouldn't even be near their old high school again) propping up the Special Snowflake, with prop #1 on the far left in the background (and only recognizable because of his porcelain skin) where he apparently belongs now.

Revolutionary.

I also find it annoying that they just will not let go of McKinley. I don't think they could have made the storylines any better if all of it had happened in NY, but atleast it would have made more sense.

Oh well, Kurt in fitted shirts and trousers , looking like he has been thrown into a nightmare it must be then.

The retention of Mckinley is the showrunners stubborn refusal to accept that Mckinley is NOT the heart of the show. The original characters were the heart of the show, meaning the students, the original NDs. This is not to disrespect Sue or Schue but they were actually the props.

They seem to get that the audience wants to see the originals. But they do not seem to get that they also want to see progression...A refusal to as regards to the past in the form of Mckinley... Let it go.

It is hard for me to call the promo counting on the lure of nostalgia. I mean it is, but nostalgia is supposed to be positive. To me this is hackery and stubborness on full display to the max. But it will all be over soon. Yeahhhhhh!!!!!

You are completely right. They got one part of the equation right - that the audience wanted to concentration of the storylines to focus on characters like Kurt, Rachel and the other graduates. But what we wanted to see was them all moving on with their adult lives and struggling to find their place in the world. Not to get yanked back to the McKinley choir room every time someone stubs their toe.

It's lazy and disingenuous storytelling and it's no wonder that they got a bare half a season to wrap everything up after the total hash they made of season five.

Any of the remaining GA who happened to watch the promo would logically think " Didn't Kurt and Rachel graduate three fucking seasons on on the show?

As to Sue threatening them again, it's like ground hog day without the humor of Bill Murray.

On the positive, Chris/Kurt looked positively scrumptious in the promo.

It's funny, they go back to the choir room and yet it's all the Originals who have graduated spotlighted, which contradicts Ryan's assertion that the choir room is the star.
