General Glee Discussion Thread--Part 4
I don't think anyone here doubts that Chris could not hold himself up in scenes with others and therefore disappear to the background as 'sidekick'.Buenos wrote:Sorry I can't buy this "sidekick" status for Kurt.
As a an actor and character, he isn't overshadowed ever, even with Rachel and Santana, two verifiable scene stealers, KUrt/Chris has always more than hold his own in scenes with them . He's never been wallpaper in any scene. Finn, Rachel, Burt, Blaine, Sue, etc Kurt more than matches them on screen.
So until I see it, rumors of his demise and descent into a sidekick are just that rumors.
What I think the sentiment 'sidekick' means in this context is that Kurt will not get decent storylines of himself anymore, and his existence on Glee will revolve almost solely around supporting Rachel and being Blaine's love interest.
And really: that was basically Kurt in season 4.

Yes, and still Glee tried to make dramatic storylines and all people talked about was Kurt eating cookies in the blurred background. You'd think they have learnt.
I am so convinced they believe in case Klaine reunites, Kurtsies will be happy to get more screentime. I am still convinced they underestimate the sheer numbers of non-Blarren/Klaine fans.

I wish Glee would get even few of the storylines the classics have used successfully right. But judging with the general level of ingenious script writing *insert bitterness here* I have to doubt that none of the writers have actually read anything prior 20th century, or atleast payed some sort of consentration when taught at schools. Any schools, be it elementary, college of film school.Buenos wrote:Are we already back in Verona?valkeakuulas wrote:I know it's all depression, panic and over working brains but the way you phrase it here makes it sound like 17th century epic battles between "two households both alike in dignity...etc. etc."!Buenos wrote:Sorry I can't buy this "sidekick" status for Kurt.

But they have already won! Most of us will settle for just seeing Chris play Kurt, even for those precious two or three minutes. I certainly did last season. Shame on me! We've been duped many times already.Lottie2303 wrote:Yes, and still Glee tried to make dramatic storylines and all people talked about was Kurt eating cookies in the blurred background. Re: General Glee Discussion Thread--Part 4
Don't underestimate Kurt edits (or for other charcaters). People will stop watching the sows, download the few minutes on tumblr and ignore the rest of the show. That means no song sales, no viewer ratings, no heavy discussion on important boards. Character edits will be the downfall for Glee, as too many just cannot stomach the entire episode anymore, but are reluctant to let go of their favorite. It is the best solution.valkeakuulas wrote:But they have already won! Most of us will settle for just seeing Chris play Kurt, even for those precious two or three minutes. As much I love Darren/Blaine, I will be happy if Chris/Kurt gets more screen time because he wasn't shown that much last season.

I can't think of a single male characterin the history of network TV who has had as many outift changes as Kurt Hummel , outside of a variety show.
Anyone can think of something comparable?

The crazy thing is that Chris is being paid anywhere from 75-100 K per episode, is used heavily in promotions/marketing and yet sometimes just gets few minutes cameo on the show last year.

TBH, I think FOX surely must have put their foot down and said for that money, you need to actually start fucking using Lea and Chris. And Jane too actually. Surely?!

Common sense would suggest so. But this is Glee - I cannot wrap my head around the fact that they were neglected in the first place.Georgette888 wrote:TBH, I think FOX surely must have put their foot down and said for that money, you need to actually start fucking using Lea and Chris. Add Matt Morrison, he gets paid as much.Georgette888 wrote:TBH, I think FOX surely must have put their foot down and said for that money, you need to actually start fucking using Lea and Chris. And Jane too actually. Surely?!
It's mind boggling that they shell out between 400-500K per episode for these 4 actors who work only part time at best. Crazy , no?

Plus you figure in her 5th year on Glee Naya has to making at least 50-70K per episode and she also was underutilized last year. Is there a pattern here..

Seriously, I cannot blame Matt Morrison, Dianna Agron, Jayma Mays, Amber Riley and Co for being happy to be off the show. I also bet some of the still regular cast members are counting the days. I'd do a lot to get an insight of the true makings of Glee. I bet it is worth a TV show itself with material for 5 seasons.

They have the newbies at bargain basement prices from what I have heard. However, when you factor in all those salaries for the veterans and all the expensive guest stars, Glee is still not a cheap bill. FOX must want more bang for their buck, as it were.

Re: General Glee Discussion Thread--Part 4
None of it makes sense.
I have never known a show to not use their best talent.
I watch Teen Wolf, and everyone is used.
Stiles is my favourite, but I love all the other characters as well.
And is interesting how a lot of the Teen Wolf fanbase is a lot of former Gleeks or still are Gleeks. What is interesting many are Chris fans.
Well, the ones I follow are.

Stiles and Kurt should totally be cousins. That'd be funny!

It stays on topic as I repeat I want Oliver on the showKurt Hummel wrote:Off topic: I love Teen Wolf
However, on a fair note, TW is also showing very telling signs of misogyny. The finale made me so mad, as TW is very good to apologize for serial killer maniacs just because they have a great body.
Rant over. Sorry, I needed to say this since a while. I am going back in topic again

It's the same with almost all supernatural shows or tv shows in general. I watch The Vampire Diaries and the good looking bad guys are always getting away with killing innocent people and winning the girls after doing horrible things to them, their friends and families.Lottie2303 wrote:It stays on topic as I repeat I want Oliver on the showKurt Hummel wrote:Off topic: I love Teen Wolf

We are lucky Glee is not that kind of show or people would be shipping Kurt with the guy who killed his mother or set his school on fire with the students still in it.

Glee also has very heavy undertones of misogyny and you can clearly see it is written by males and how they perceive females. Generally, I find it sad how hard it is to find great TV shows that treat males and females equally fairly.
I find the twins so bland. Also, once again all the female antagonists get killed off, while the males ones get resurrected or redeemed. I am flabbergasted that everyone seems to forget that Peter killed Laura. It is like, it doesn't matter.Kurt Hummel wrote:I saw that to if I am getting what you mean, as in Jennifer Blake?
