Re: Kurt Hummel Spoiler Thread - part 19
As much as I dislike the Klaine pairing now, I have very fond memories of BICO and LIS. They were good duets that balanced their voices well and were evenly distributed between the two singers. Unfortunately once Blaine cheated and the relationship went into the crapper, I couldn't enjoy their other duets. And it didn't help that they weren't well-balanced duets. They became Blaine solos with Kurt taking the second voice and it only fueled my anger at the pairing. But BiCO and LIS were from the era when Glee did duets right and since the relationship with solid, I could enjoy them. I think that unlike the Klainers, who just want them to sing together regardless of what their relationship is, I want to see the duets have some part of the overall storyline.Buenos wrote:I'm guess the minority here, which is OK.
I thought "Baby It's Cold" was one of their best songs together, and "Let it Snow" and the whole Black/White episode of Season 3 was very clever and cute. NGL, the Justin
Timberlake/egg nog , chalet bachelor jokes/vibe was one of the few times that Glee hit its wink/wink humor out of the ballpark.
I am absolutely loving Santa Claus is Coming to Town because it balances Rachel, Kurt and Santana so well. Their voices are distinct, but flow beautifully together. And it's not just having one lead voice with the others playing backup. It's a proper group number, the way Glee used to do them. One thing I've always loved about how Kurt can be used in group numbers is that he brings a nice dose of testosterone to when he sings with the girls, but because he is able to sing in the same key as they can, his voice doesn't conflict. And when he sings with the guys, he brings a pleasant brightness that accents all the generic tenors.

In all fairness, I don't think he had final editorial choice on everything that made it into the episode.sheny wrote:He did a good job with the Christmas special, but the episode would have been much better if he got rid of some of the unnecessary Pig Barbara discussions Finn and Rachel had.fantastica wrote:matt morrison was supposed to direct 3 episode but he only directed one? i thought he did a fine job there.
Just seems to me that FOX has more confidence in Matt than Glee does. FOX tries to use him in different events when they can. I think once Glee is over he would have his choice of plum Broadway roles for the next couple of decades TBH. He'd bee a box office draw who wouldn't be stunt casting but a seasoned Broadway vet.

True, even in a higher register it's a man's voice. One thing I've always loved about how Kurt can be used in group numbers is that he brings a nice dose of testosterone to when he sings with the girls, but because he is able to sing in the same key as they can, his voice doesn't conflict. I realize there is nothing wrong with it but my own bias, but that's what's I find it a little hard to adjust with Alex, he sounds like a woman singing. I know it's because as Glorfindel has told me, he's a male soprano (?) and his voice is beautiful, but just my own personal distraction. (He sounded fantastic in "If I had boy).
Chris with Lea and Naya, it's such a warm rich sound together all three of them. The Chipmunk song is cute, but I would have preferred those 3 voices in another song where their harmonies can blend in and out. I hope if Lea does another album, she includes these two in a song.
Would be interesting to have Hummelberry Perez give a shot to some songs with 3 part harmonies, or even something like the Wilson/Philips "Release Me" or something in that ilk. Some Every Brothers such as "All I have to do is Dream"

These 3 can really sing nice harmonies together, and Chris can go high and low at will.
I'm pleasantly surprised how well Naya's voice fits the big band style, and how well she blends with Broadway vibrato babes Lea and Chris.

Ask Ausiello: Spoilers on Glee
Question: Do you know if or when Heather Morris will be returning to Glee? Or any other Glee scoop? –Abi
Ausiello: I recently addressed the Heather/Brittany issue, so I come to you bearing “other Glee scoop.” Series vet Jayma Mays tells us that in a couple weeks she’ll be shooting her penultimate Season 5 appearance, in an episode that, she has been told, features “good stuff” for Emma. “From what I understand, it’s a really good episode for her and for Will,” the Millers costar adds, “so they’re telling me to be excited!”

Kalen G wrote the once upon a time part for the puppet video with Chris, Adam and Darren, but the rest was all them.
She was having a twitter conversation with some fans yesterday.

VOTE
Unfortunately there is not a Kurt solo but "Bad Romance", "Born This Way" and "Defying Gravity" (probably the duet version) are amongst the options.
If we all vote for the same songs the chances of them being in Top 10 will be bigger.
I already know which 3 solos will definitely be in the episode and I can't be less exited to hear the person who sings 5 songs per episode sing multiple times in the 100th episode too.

^Please share those 3 songs with us, if you know something we don't.
Or do you just mean that the chance of the Warblers songs being there is very large?

I take back everything I said in my previous post because of this.
I can't believe they will ruin so many song done by the originals. Any guesses who will be the lucky person who will butcher "Defying Gravity"? Maybe Marley or Unique? The Top 10 fan-chosen Glee songs from the past will be re-mixed and performed by the current members of New Directions in the milestone 100th episode.
The episode will focus on McKinley High’s latest batch of seniors as they approach graduation and reminisce about their most memorable moments, while singing new versions of these iconic tracks.

Yes, those are the three songs I meant. I'm sure the Blaine stans will vote like crazy to hear Blaine sing them again on the show.Glorfindel wrote:^Please share those 3 songs with us, if you know something we don't.

Re: Kurt Hummel Spoiler Thread - part 19
OK so if only the new New Directions are going to sing I'm going to vote for the worst songs on that list. I don't want to hear any of the good ones sung by Blah and the noobs. This is the worst idea ever. Why can't they just let the "original" singers sing them?
I want my votes back. I don't want anyone but Kurt (and Rachel) singing DG or Born This Way. That tweet is so misleading just like FOX's page. If it was't for the article here we would never know that the McKinley people are going to sing them instead of the originals.

I just voted, and included songs like 'Lean on Me' and 'Keep Holding On'. Why?
Jeez, the last thing I want is one of the sacred songs of old being rehashed by Blam and the noobs.
Also: desperate much, Glee?
Letting the NooBlams ride on the coattails of the wonderful old cast? Jeez. [2]

Too bad "My cup" and "My headband" are not an option because I would vote for those two at least 1000 times.
I can't believe they are ruining the 100th episode like this. It should be about the entire cast not just the McKinley seniors.

Well, the good news is 10 songs for the new New Directions means this is likely to be a NY free episode and easily skipped entirely.
