^The problem is not the location or Chris having to work so many hours on Glee that he has no time for other things.
The problem is that another production needs to know weeks but probably months beforehand when they will be able to film with Chris (as many people are involved and locations/studios need to be booked), so they need to know fairly early on when Chris's days off from Glee are. And with a writing-the-episodes-at-the-last-minute production like Glee that is simply impossible.

Plus a production might not make the effort of having to film with one particular actor 2 days here, another day there, and maybe a week right before Christmas, while scheduling the rest of the actors and movie production around that one actor.
Unless they really, really want Chris to play a certain role.

Maybe cameos and guest starring in other series are possible, as they usually take up only a few days of filming, while other stuff for these guest star stints, like fitting costumes etc., can be done inbetween Glee.
But Fox would have to give its permission for such other acting jobs: Chris is a regular, not a recurring guest actor, so he is not free like Mike or Jayma.

Buenos wrote:I have no problem with Chris limited to weekends for stuff like book signings /promotions for things outside his Glee filming commitment.  Glee is his meat  and potatoes job.

What is bull shit are people assuming that he negotiated lesser work for Season 4.  He could have, but there's no proof either way.  In interviews he also expressed he missed performing and  wished that Kurt had more to do. so why do some apologists for his reduced time jump to the conclusion that Chris negotiated for  less screen time.
I agree.
I call bullsh*t on people 'apologizing' that Kurt was not in many episodes of season 4 because he wanted time off himself. dryy

Another favorite: Chris is not comfortable with singing and therefore probably asked to sing less himself.  When he indeed said that he missed performing.

As for time off for a movie in season 5: it could be that Ryan will give Chris those extra weeks so he (Ryan) has a nice excuse to push Blam and the noobs once again in the time that Chris is occupied elsewhere.
And tbh: I wouldn't even mind that if it means that Chris can do a movie.

fantastica wrote:if hte movies are shot in hollywood/LA chris can certain pursue multiple projects simultaneously, like Mike O. chris is no longer in the choir room scenes so he may only need couple of hours a week shooting a couple of minutes of kurt cameo in NY. there's plenty of time for him to do other stuff.
Mike is a whole different can of worms.  He's a guest star who's limited his appearances on Glee the last couple of years to maybe  5-6 appearances per year.   Last year he came out a total of 3 times, Episodes 1, 10 and 21.

Chris is a regular , so contractually he has to give Glee his first priority as far as scheduling.  Any movie or outside project would have to accommodate his Glee schedule, so even if he has a few hours shooting on Glee they have no obligation to schedule it around another project's time table.  Say Glee wants to call him in  to redo a scene on what would be an "off day", that puts another project up the creek if they need Chris.  That is why it's rare for a regular to make a movie during TV production season.

It looks like for the first 2-3 episodes Chris has to film at least 2-3 days per week.  Very hard to do outside gigs with that kind of time and legal constraints.

i just red on imdb that matt boomer is playing Montgomery Cliff in a biopic. if this is the biopic that chris is connected to, he could either be young monty, some other actor, maybe one of his lovers and some other role.

or he may not be connected to this is anyway.

When some actors become famous they become the most difficult actors to work with. They get paid such huge amounts, they should deliver accordingly and not be so difficult and have a positive attitude.

Well we all should be thankful that from all accounts, Chris is a down to earth and professional actor in all his projects.

SOOO looking forward for more movie roles for him..!!
