I purposely said "believe", as otherwise I'd use different adjectives. But from my perspective, I wouldn't wonder if Chris was happy to have an "excuse" not to attend the TCA and therefore the Cory memorial. In case he didn't want to attend the TCA's in the first place, he needed a valid excuse for not attending. He still got a lot of angry tweets from "fans" who were disappointed he didn't join this particular tribute.

Of course I might be wrong and the live chat was the only available time slot at that time so Chris decided not to go the the TCA's. We never know anyway. But we speculate so much. Why is this particular suggestion suddenly off limits?

Because it contradicts what he said publicly. I give people the benefit of the doubt that they are not lying, especially someone I'm a fan of. Chris said IIRC in a tweet that he regretted not being able to be there. Why would you assume he was lying and deliberately planned not to be there? It would make his twitter not very attractive, wouldn't it? If you think he's lying, that's your opinion. I just find that odd in a fan forum for Chris Colfer.

BTW, when did I say any disagreements are "off limits?" Shocked

Because he only said he was sorry he couldn't attend. Still doesn't dismiss the idea the live chat was planned in order to avoid attending the TCA's because he didn't want to participate in Cory's tribute, as he obviously mourned the death privately (btw. there was no right or wrong way in how to handle Cory's death. Chris was more private, while others talked about it more). Maybe it was a mix of only having this one time slot to do the live-chat (which also was a very requested wish from his fans) and therefore avoiding having the chance to avoid the TCA's?!

Furthermore Chris received a lot of angry tweets because he didn't participate. In case it was a white lie, I cannot fault him. Many fans legitimately seemed upset he wasn't present and I don't believe Chris anticipated that (I most certainly didn't). The live chat was a nice opportunity to send apologies to his fans.

I don't believe Chris will ever lie out of spite or malice. I think he is one of the most honest celebrities in HW. But I believe everyone uses white lies every now and then, including Chris, and I won't ever judge anyone for something I also do in my personal life every now and then.

ETA: You didn't. It was my first impression while reading your post, but you clearly only stated your opinion. Guess I got too defensive too quick.

No problem, personally i find your implication about Chris' character (deliberately lying about the TCA's ) offensive, but that's OK, we all can agree to disagree. IF you'd rather believe he would lie and deceive his fans with insincere twitters there's nothing I can do about that. I just give him the BOD he was actually telling the truth.

We better just drop this exchange for now.

It's also possible that Chris was asked not to attend the TCA's, because TPTB of Glee wanted nothing to take away attention from the Cory tribute.
Letting Chris win would have put an emphasis on that Cory never won a TCA and was not the most popular male main character of Glee, and they would have had to give Chris a speech just like Lea's. Whereas only Lea winning her category (on the same level as Chris' category) gave her an excellent, isolated reason to give her thank you speech and start the Cory tribute. Chris attending without winning the TCA he was nominated for would have been odd too.
So Chris not winning a TCA alongside her would have been.....convenient.

Disclaimer: I know this is also mere speculation, but that is what I personally believe. LBR: it's highly questionable that Jim Parsons won over Chris in the Teen Choice Awards.

@Marie, do you really believe if Chris would have won the TCA would have taken away the attention from Cory? Ok I confess it took me by surprise how well known and loved was Cory outside the fandom. And probably Cory wasn't as popular among teenagers, as Chris is, but still he was one of the most recognizable faces from Glee.

You know, at this point I don't want to question why Chris decided to not attend the TCA, it can be because he was asked to not attend or probably he preferred to avoid such a public award like this one and mourn his friend privately. The only thing I still believe so far, and I'm sorry for this, those awards were 'well' planned.
