ccnThe Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center Today the kids had the unique opportunity to skype with Chris Colfer (Kurt Hummel from Glee)! What an opportunity it was to ask questions and learn key characteristics about theatre and acting from Chris. Charming, funny, and very wise in his art, Chris gave great insight to the kids about his career and his profession on stage, on TV and film.

I do follow someone on tumblr who I think was there, but I cannot not be sure of that.
I hope someone did tape this as I love listening to Chris giving others advice.
He is one celebrity that gives so much and asks for so little.

Re: Chris Colfer Appreciation Thread!--part 9
so what do we think about this. i'm ambivalent to be honest. and as i don't follow DWTS, i have no idea when this gets filmed and if it clashes with Noel. Could be just a pure rumor.
Apparently, Valentin Chmerkovskiy told In Touch Weekly that he wants Caitlyn Jenner to be his dance partner next season.
He said that they wouldn't physically match, because of the height difference to be honest, but he volunteers.
The new cast hasn't been confirmed yet, but besides Caitlyn Jenner, other rumored celebrites to join Season 21 are “Glee” alum Chris Colfer, Ricky Martin, Marilu Henner, “Brady Bunch” star Maureen McCormick, “98 Degrees” singer Nick Lachey, and Heather Locklear.

I don't think that DWTS rumor is true. Chris is going to be busy with Noel when it starts. Plus, if I remember correctly, when Amber was on DWTS, someone tweeted to Chris, "We should start a petition to get @chriscolfer on DWTS," and Chris responded, "Please don't" or something like that, so I don't think he'll be on it any time soon.
Plus, DWTS are mostly filled with people who have nothing else going on in their careers and are looking for a boost. Chris isn't there. He has a lot on his plate. With the success of Amber and Riker on the show, I wouldn't be surprised to see other Glee cast members on the show (and I've been saying for years that Darren will be on it at some point).

Riker made the top 3 and was reviewed very well by the judges. From what I read - many thought he should've won.

I love Amber, and the gig on DWTS did help her but it was because after being sidelined on Glee, her album debut delayed, she needed something to boost and increase her public profile.
It worked in that by winning the whole damn thing, Glee suddenly took an interest in Amber again. However it doesn't negate that usually celebrities have to be between gigs to come out on the show or careers are flagging/in decline or are only marginally name celebrities and need the PR/boost to revive or ignite interest in them. Or its a novel concept for someone not in show biz (aka retired sports stars) . I dont judge them because PR is important in the business, but there is a vibe of being past your prime for many DWTS participants. It's a tough business and if you can get on the show its great, becauase Im sure there is a long waiting list of those wanting to go on.
At this point in his career it makes no sense for Chris to come out on the show. He has a writing career that is going strong, has movie projects lined up and for all we know, also has TV/stage things looming.

I agree. My only real reason for wanting to see him on DWTS is entirely self-serving .

Re: Chris Colfer Appreciation Thread!--part 9
DWTS is a great venue for those who are past their prime (actors and retired athletes), or younger performers trying to raise their profile to boost their careers (like Amber and Riker). Chris just doesn't need it at this point. His profile is already quite high and he's got a lot of people who want to work with him. DWTS would be a distraction and could possibly hold him back from quality projects.
He's said repeatedly that he's really not interested in doing a show like this and I take him at his word. I don't doubt that we'll see other Glee personalities at some point, but I highly doubt that Chris ever will.

Chris Colfer. Gay Rights and Hollywood Still Have a Long Way to Go“I never thought getting married would become such a stereotypical ‘gay thing’ to do,” says 25-year-old actor Chris Colfer (Kurt Hummel on “Glee”). “In just a few years, what was discussed as only a prospect has now become an expectation in my circle of friends. I can’t tell you how many hysterical arguments I’ve gotten into by defending my right not to get married.”
This quote from Chris is in a long and kind of all over the place (imo) article about all kinds of pros and cons about same-sex marriage and how companies and Hollywood see it. I have the feeling that either this quote was taken out of context (as part of a longer, more positive comment on same-sex marriage) or that many people won't get the 'joke' that Chris is clearly making here.
And sure I've already seen people criticizing and accusing Chris for it, because they find some sort of offence in it.

I would not be surprise if most if not all the people who is criticizing Chris is the same people who always finds stuff to hate on him for. But think Darren can do no wrong.

Re: Chris Colfer Appreciation Thread!--part 9
I understood what he was saying, but know there are those who look for offense everywhere who won't. Just because a person can get legally married, doesn't mean they should if they choose not to, even if it was right withheld from them before. They especially shouldn't be guilted into it by friends and family, which seems to be something he maybe has faced already.
The article also mention something about domestic partnerships, which in CA afford a couple many of the same rights as marriage, though not all. I'm sure there are those worried that DPs could be done away with altogether now, and marriage become the only way a couple can have certain rights, which would be unfortunate. I of course have no idea if Chris and Will have a DP arrangement, but if it were me and I had a DP over marriage by choice, I'd be concerned if there was a possibility it could be cancelled.

Oh yeah, it's the usual suspects alright, including Chris' biggest hater Kerrie of course.ChrisColferFan1 wrote:I would not be surprise if most if not all the people who is criticizing Chris is the same people who always finds stuff to hate on him for. But think Darren can do no wrong.
And even though some of them hide behind anonymous/newly made tumblrs, you just know they are either tinhatters who hate Chris (for not playing along with their fantasy) or Darren fans trying to troll on Chris fans (because some Chris' fans 'hate' on Darren), and usually they are both, lol.
What I get from that quote is that Chris is saying that it's great that the expectance of getting married has become such a common thing to talk about nowadays in gay circles, in only a short few years time, because now it's available for everybody, not just in some States, when not so long ago it was not something lgbtqia+ people could even dream about, so they didn't talk about it much either.
Chris tends to express himself witty and even sarcastically, with heavy exaggeration, so he jokes and 'complains' about having to keep telling people he personally doesn't want to get married but feels the pressure from them to do it anyway. Like he joked once that he gets discriminated for being too good looking (IIRC), lol.
Those "hysterical arguments" he had with his friends were probably all in good jest, and them just joking around and being giddy that their lgbtqia+ friends and acquaintances now can get married if they want to, and that they can therefore also tease their friends about not wanting to tie the knot (or at least not soon).
(Although I wouldn't be surprised if Chris did get a little pressure from e.g. his family to get married, lol.)
Tbh: Chris doesn't seem like the marrying kind to me, at least not when still so young, as I'm sure he's seen the ugly divorces too (like Jane's). He's also said more than once that individual growth and expression for a person like an education and/or career are very important (not that they can't co-exist with a romantic relationship). And why would he get married already if he and Will can live happily together now without the financial risks of a marriage (as I assume he and Will have their seperate finances and shared possesions etc. well sorted out and taken care of).
And that's why I agree with you, @angelnessa, about domestic partnerships and similar contracts still being so important, even when marriage is available for everybody now. Not everyone wants to get married, although they want to secure their finances and other rights for their partners (like inheritances and health insurances) and written in a binding contract, so they cannot be disputed when one of the partners gets ill or dies. There must also be many heterosexual couples who prefer a legal partnership over marriage. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Great post.
I was not surprise about Kerrie being on of those who is criticizing Chris. She always does and seems on keep on making new blogs. I wonder did she criticized Darren for his temper tantrum when two members of the audience of Hedwig did not stand up? I doubt it. She most likely did not say and thing about it or defended Darren by saying he was in character, or worse they deserved it for not standing up. I do not have a tumblr but if I did her account/s would be among those I would have blocked.
I got the same thing from the Chris quote.
I also do not think Chris is the marrying kind ,at least not yet. It could change in a few years. But for now at least I think he is happy just been with Will.
