Drat.
This situation is reminding me of the UK version of TLOS, which was published without the map.
Are you going to complain?
And I was planning to ask the australian version, because I know the dvd code works for latinamerican too. But I'm kinda regretting. Btw it was a well done review, it makes anyone to buy the DVD/BLURAY.

brisallie wrote:I didn't know that Lea's mom told her that. When she commented that? Probably it was when Lea was a child and was starting in Broadway, but you have to be so careful with your words when it comes to children. Sometimes is hard for them to forget something that their parents have told them.
And personally I feel connected with the movie because my parents are divorced as well, and as Carson I don't have a close relationship with my dad. He's been pretty much absent.
And as regards as Chris, I'm also glad he has such a wonderful family that always been there for him.
She said it about Lea when she was a kid just starting off on Broadway. Which is weird, because Lea could sing even as a child. She didn't get to be on Broadway at the age of 8 for nothing.
As for the reveiw, I found Carson to be very sympathetic...but that's just me. I actually expected him to be a bigger jerk than he was, so I guess I braced myself for the worst.

If I'm complaining, then you should be too Same DVD region code and all.
I agree that the review is in-depth and well done.

I love that so many reviewers have been "suprised" that Chris can play someonecelse besides Kurt. Isn't versatility a quality of a good actor? He has been called one...And this recent an one brings up also an obvious point and nice reminder of actual limitations about the actors abilities to mold into diffrent roles: right now I don't think Chris could play a for example, a mercenary, but neither can many other actors right of the bat.
I do think SBL is a solid 8/10 movie and it's definately something outside of the box.

To be fair, there are a lot of actors who basically only can play the same type because they are not talented. I most certainly have some bias against other actors as well. So I am happy that he convinces people that he is talented and versatilie. Chris was very right and clever just to write roles for himself. He is far ahead of the Hollywood game compared to other his ages (or even much older).

Chris actually cares about the craft. He does not want to make easy money by playing it safe and allowing himself to be typecast in the same role over and over again. He wants to be known for being truly talented. Good for him.

That's something I apprecite about him. He really loves what he's doing and also wants to prove how good he is at it. So, I'm glad there's someone of his age who's not only a famewhore who doesn't care to do the same roles over and over just to be in the media.
Re: [Spoiler Alert] Struck by Lightning POST-WATCHING Discussion and Reviews Thread
I know! I love that so much about him! He's said that he doesn't crave fame, but he wants to be respected for being talented. That's the right attitude.

Okay guys, I just thought of something. I know at some point we discussed who should play the doctor in Chris's screenplay, and we all wanted it to be a woman, but the time period made that illogical. We all know Chris is very good at writing female characters; however, I think it's a good thing it'll be a male he'll be developing, as it will broaden his horizons. I would love it if either Matt Bomer of NPH played the lead. Either way, we'd have 2 out gay men representing assumed straight males, which would definitely help everyone's future roles, and get rid of the cliche "Gays can't play straight". If this screenplay is casted and edited smartly, it could be groundbreaking.

Hmmm. That's not a bad idea...but I'd personally want Chris to work with someone he hasn't worked with on Glee in the past (I don't want people calling it "The Glee Movie"). I also wouldn't want someone overly famous in the project either. Plus, I think NPH has already broken that stereotype, now I want to see Chris do so.
Speaking of breaking the stereotype, was Carson straight? He implied he was straight in the book.

Yes Carson said he was straight in the book, but his sexuality never came up in the movie, which I'm slightly thankful for.

I'm glad for that as well. Sexuality does not have to dominate everything.

I am happy that the entire movie didn’t revolve around any romance. It was long overdue to show a HS movie with conflicts about everything but not a lovestory! But I agree and think it was a smart choice just to ignore the topic of sexuality.

Chris called it. This is why I hate rom-coms. The same thing (boy meets girl, blah, blah, blah) over and over again. Good for him for using his imagination and getting to more important matters (hopes, dreams, talents, intelligence) rather than focusing on the same, tired "romance" plot device.

I read the book and actually Carson gave me the impression he was straight, but I don't remember where he said that specifically or directly.

When he was talking to Scott and Nathan, he specifically said that he wasn't homosexual. He also said earlier in the book that he had a crush on Hillary Swank. Also, Chris confirmed it himself for those who didnt read the book.

After I finished to read "Hunger Games" and to do all my stuff for the University, I'll re-read the book. I remember he had a crush on Rachel Maddow and was kinda confusing for him (and me) and isn't Nicholas ?

Sorry it's been a while since I read it. But yeah you're right. It was Rachel Maddow and Nicholas.

Don't worry. Memory can be fragile sometimes (that's why I'm taking vitamins). Maybe you get confused because Hilary looked like a real boy in "Boys don't cry". And btw, Nathan is a cute name.

^Yeah, it's ambiguous, to say the least, lol. But a lot of kids that age get confused or don't really know yet.....
Anyway, I'm really glad that Carson's sexuality played no part at all in both the book and the movie. Why always the need of society to define things, to pigeonhole them, especially such private things like sexuality, when it doesn't matter in the grand scheme?

Actually I found clever he had a crush on her. I could understand if he had a crush on her, as some girls have a crush on gays, but I've seen a couple of pictures of her and resembles a boy. It was kinda confusing.

I always thought she was androgynous. I have a gay friend who finds androgyny sexy, because they refuse to be labeled in any one category. I think it would definitely make sense for Carson's character to have a crush on someone like that.
