Television Without Pity. It is a site for snarkiest snark that ever snarked. The recaps and reviews for programs could be brutal, but also hilarious.

TWoP has its flaws and problems but it is the one discussion forum site where no fandom could take over because of how their rules are set up. Anything goes as far as snarking on the content on a show and even the actions of the characters, but fandom wars or even snarking on other posters is not allowed.
Tumblr pretty much took away alot of the character stans from TWoP.
Interesting side note: Alot of the Blaine/Darren Criss stans migrated to GF from TWoP, because the rules and the content what you could post there was too constricting for them.
It is very different from the Glee Forum. It's amazing to read contents from the two forums, for example, regarding the McKinley Noobs. GF you would think the Noobs were this fantastic success with how the teenage posters gushed on an on about how the new ND was so much better than the original cast. Whereas in TWoP many of the posters were scathing in how they saw the McKinley narrative destroyed by Blam and the Noobs. You wonder if people are watching the same show, seriously.
TWoP isn't particularly kind to anyone so it takes a particular sensitivity to navigate there, but you could actually post what you felt about any TV show and not have it edited for the sake of positivity. Too bad it's going away.

Not going to disagree with you, Beth. That nickname was awful. Especially when it was contrated with Dreamboat Blaine. Though I have to admit that I always giggled when I saw Rachel referred to as the Batshit Bimbo of Broadway.
The site had its serious issues but I'll admit that I'm going to miss it. I agree with Buenos that it is refreshing to not have to self-censor yourself a lot of the time and lord knows that I've posted stuff that was really harsh But the harshness on the boards, I think, kept a lot of people out of them. It can be brutal to read some of the stuff posted there if you don't have a thick skin, and I disagreed a lot with how some of the mods acted. A few of the rules were badly enforced and there were a number of times that exciting conversations got shut down because the mods felt that things were going in circles. But it was a valuable place for fans of a lot of lesser shows that don't have big on-line presences to gather and it's really unfortunate that it's going to be gone soon.
I guess that this is what happens when corporate gets too deeply involved with fandom - great things get shut down because they aren't lucrative enough.

Damn, I love TWoP!!!
It was the perfect place to snark. And the threads were so well-organized.
I'll really miss it.

No! Although I never posted on TWoP, I like there's a site in which you're open to express your opinion without the need to soften up your words.
Re: Kurt Hummel Snark & Bark Thread--Part 11
The shutdown of operations at TWOP has already begin. No more recaps and we're being warned that there may be signifigant glitches on the system before the forum is shut down completely.
Am wondering if the mods are going to loosen the reins a bit and not be so quick to level warnings at this point. Might be interesting to see what kind of free for all we end up with since there's no point in worrying about the future there.

Re: Kurt Hummel Snark & Bark Thread--Part 11
Seriously, TWoP closing announcement broke my heart. IT was a great place to go and discuss not one sole TV show, but all kinds of TV, and considering the size of it, it was moderated on a remarkable manner.
Some recaps made me die laughing, so many discussions in the Forums were interesting, clever, and got me to have a different sighting of a scene, a character... And the snark, oh, the snark! What I loved is that you could snark at the show but not to the fellows, and thus lots of cage wars were averted...
Yes, at times I disagreed with what a recapper had written, but over the 10 years I spent there (reading recaps first, then forum lurking then posting) most of the time I loved going there. And seriously, to know that all the contents, recaps and forums, will disappear is heartbreaking. This is a part of collective memories and pop culture that will be erased for people of my generation. That really, really sucks.

No. TWoP pembleton said he'd still mod and ban until the end, and ban HARD.Ranwing wrote:The shutdown of operations at TWOP has already begin. No more recaps and we're being warned that there may be signifigant glitches on the system before the forum is shut down completely.

Good to know. I've kept my warnings to a tolerable level and it would be nice to see the place out with a good record. Am really going to miss that place.

^I already made an account on previously.tv and I think many others are doing likewise.
This is the hardest part for me. I spent many lazy hour going through old threads. Maybe I'll try to copy and save some of them, but it's impossible to keep everything.coxfire wrote:Yes, at times I disagreed with what a recapper had written, but over the 10 years I spent there (reading recaps first, then forum lurking then posting) most of the time I loved going there. Re: Kurt Hummel Snark & Bark Thread--Part 11
I know some are trying to save the some of it, but 15+ years of recaps and discussions of hundreds (maybe thousands) of TV shows would require so many time and space... I know it is a business decision, but, for our génération, it is the equivalent of burning history books, or old pieces of art. Do these people realize the actual value it represents? That these TV shows and the recaps/forum that ensued are the expression of a generation, the one who grew up with TV characters and saw the development of Internet? Huge loss indeed
As much as you could headbutt with another poster, It was a real community for fans (or hate watchers, I know I said some awful things about crappy shows and actors over there!)
I'm registered at Previously.tv too, I hope that somewhat the TWoP legacy will pick up there . Glee is almost over, but there are many other shows I still want to discuss there

^Lol.
But boy: what a coattail riders and occasion/ensemble-of-the-moment opportunists, (and since this is snark&bark) the whole lot of them.
So much for the BI being Chris and Lea scheming to get Darren fired, then.Jellyrolls wrote:Chord, and then Lea instagramed pictures of Glee's new "power trio" Blamchel. Lea even came up with a new ship name for them. daleastreet. to the new ship name.

Will was there to have lunch with Chris, I guess they headed off somewhere, leaving this three together.
I would have actually done the same.
No-one cares about Blamchel or Daleastreet, so they can just give it up.

I agree about the mutual coat tail riding, but Chris was hanging out with Will and one of the Lumineers, so I don't think he was too pressed.

I wonder if Chris is getting one of the Lumineers songs in his episode?
I would love for him to sing "Hey Sweetheart".
Probably got the song wrong, so anyone can correct me, I don't mind.

They should stop making these lame ship names for their own characters or worse RL people. Expect to hear about Blamchel on the show soon. Is there any other show that uses fandom ship names in canon like Glee did with Finchel and Brittana in the past and now with Blam?

Oh, I don't think Chris minds not being part of the power trio-whatever, that's not what I tried to imply. I'ts just so typical that these 3 do stuff like this.
But really: making up your own ship name is so pathetic.
I would love for a the Lumineers song on Glee.

Chris is not clinging to this show like these three are.
They are starting to look desperate and pathetic.

I completely agree Marie. They need to make sure the focus is on them at all times. It drives me nuts too and makes especially Darren's antics all the more pathetic to me. I am sure they have been told they have to tweet about Glee, or whatever, but this is annoying. Tweet about a song, but do I have to see every time you put food in your mouth? Furthermore, I actually love that Chris isn't at these now. It used to bug, but now that I can see what's going on, I don;t care. Lea has a book coming out. Maybe she is trying to get Darren's and Chord's fans to buy.

She won't get many sales of either with these two fanbases.
Chris is the best seller.
But I will buy her album if and when it comes to my country.
