Re: Chris in Hot In Cleveland
I still cannot believe we're going to see him do, what is essentially a scetch, with two Hollywood legends. And it looks like the writers also knew how to make this funny as hell.

hrhchriscolfer: Tonight on @hotnclevelandtv I sing, dance, and almost get murdered by Hollywood Royalty! Check it out on @tvland!
Seems like Chris is enthusiastic about a tv show again.
Singing and dancing, AAAAHHHH!!!!
(And lol: almost getting murdered. I wonder what that is all about? Sounds like fun.)

I loved it. I miss Chris on my screen. And his voice is still stunning.

There seemed to be a lot of shade thrown in this episode.
I can't watch yet.
I can't watch yet.
- Melanie [Valerie Bertinelli]:Have you ever acted before?
- Tony [Chris Colfer]:No, but how hard can it be? Acting is just pretending to listen to your director and sleeping with the other actors, right?

Re: Chris in Hot In Cleveland
Was planning to actually sleep and watch this in the morning on the DVR. Of course, insomnia had other ideas.
First thing first... Chris was absolutely gorgeous and if there's anyone who can make a Henley and overalls look hot, it's Chris. Those shoulders...
I was actually giggling through the whole thing. Carol Burnett as Tony's grandmother and Elke battling for the lead in the show, and then totally wreaking it. Tony as a bad actor (as in Darren Criss dramatic scene bad) but a stunning singer (so they make the show a musical). Chris getting a very shady joke that of course he's a great singer after enduring six years of glee club.
Chris's voice is still amazing and it was a pleasure seeing him singing (and with Carol and Bettie no less). He looked like he had an absolute blast and it's great that they invited him back. Well worth the lost sleep.

Re: Chris in Hot In Cleveland
It seemed to me that Chris and Carole were singing live "Danny Boy".

There is a video of the whole episode but it is on Vimeo which I do not know how to copy here.
It was a really good episode. I laughed so much.
And Chris sounded good singing live.

Re: Chris in Hot In Cleveland
That Glee club reference was hilarious!
I don't think the "play" part of the singing was live? At least some of it? But Danny Boy was, and it was quite endearing how Chris sort of helped Carol Burnett to join him for her part.

Re: Chris in Hot In Cleveland
The bad acting part was really hysterical. The stiff hand motions, and the bad line delivery was just priceless.
I agree that Danny Boy was probably sung live, and the other song was probably pre-recorded.

Re: Chris in Hot In Cleveland
That was great fun!
Chris in a musical number with Betty White and Carol Burnett, who would ever have thought that, right?
His singing voice is still divine. I agree that 'Danny Boy' was sung live while the musical number in the play was pre-recorded. And they let him sing a bit in high register too!!!
But Tony's 'acting' needs some work, lol. Chris reminded me of Matt Bomer in Glee with Tony's attempt at acting.
And lol, the Glee shade was glorious!
I laughed so hard at that line my kids came into the room to look what happened.
The episode is available on Vimeo. If you click on the ccn post with the video you can find downloads there as well.
There are a ton load of gifs on tumblr, here's a few:

Re: Chris in Hot In Cleveland
the episode was a lot of fun. it's far more entertaining than 3 seasons of glee combined, w/o any mental tortures.
i miss chris' beautiful singing voice. i miss all the natural singing. glee over produces songs (to match the pop originals) and you only get a line or two from chris at most. here you get to hear chris pure and natural (sounds like an health-food item? )

I need a recording of Chris singing Danny Boy. It's a gorgeous song and Chris's voice just suited it so beautifully.

Here is a download of Danny Boy.
I wish we could one of the whole song, but this isn't Glee. Which means nothing as we probably wouldn't have got it anyway.

Re: Chris in Hot In Cleveland
Chris voice is so "pure" even live. I do wonder how much he'll sing in NOEL , but this morsel from Hot in Cleveland has me clamoring for more.
The acting was so much fun, and it was so nice having Chris interact with Wendy, Carole and Betty, actors who can do a comic line like nobody's business. What a difference working with people who know comedy rhythms in line delivery.

Thanks. Actually I've watched the episode and we have praised this before, but Chris is so good at comedic timing and facial expressions, he nailed the scenes. Besides I love that line referring to Glee haha (and don't get why he received mean tweets, it wasn't disrespectful). As for the episode, overall was funny :D
Was this episode the finale series? Because it didn't give me that impression.

Re: Chris in Hot In Cleveland
The episode Chris and Carol Burnett were in is 6x20 (All About Elka). The series finale is 6x22, so this was not the last episode.brisallie wrote:Was this episode the finale series? Because it didn't give me that impression.
The episode Chris was in is however the last episode they actually filmed. Apparently they waited with filming 6x20 (and did 6x21 and 6x22 first instead) untill either Chris or Carol Burnett (or both) were available to shoot their episode. So Chris was there when the series wrapped.
The people who have a problem with the Glee joke on 'Hot in Cleveland' are most likely the same people who always find something to blame Chris for: the obvious few Chris/Kurt haters, and the Klainers/tinhatters who can't stand that Chris isn't interested in Glee/Klaine/Darren anymore (and that he therefore isn't 'grateful' enough to the entitled assholes who pretend to be his fans but are only pissed that he doesn't do what they want him to do).
The joke wasn't even really offensive to Glee: it was the simple truth. After all: it were 6 LONG years, for both Chris and us. Lol, Chris' horrified face when he delivered that line was just priceless, and so was the response from the audience.
There were several moments when I laughed out oud during the episode: the Glee joke of course, but also every time when Betty White and Carol Burnett were bickering ("I can express how I feel about you with one finger." ), these ladies truly deserve to be called Hollywood Royalty.
I also thought the whole fortune cookies sketch was funny (a bit mean, but funny: "Well, it worked." talk about comedic timing and line delivery), and when the barn front fell down on Tony it was pure slapstick comedy, with Tony's startled face and then him running to his mom, while Carol Burnett and Betty White were clearly enjoying themselves in the background.
But the funniest real acting moment for Chris was imo when Tony turned out to be a terrible actor. The serious way he warmed up by stretching, not unsimilar to how we've seen Chris warm up before Glee scenes (like when Kurt surprised Rachel in New York and they ran in each other's arms), and then the OTT gestures when he 'acted'. I was so not expecting that to happen, lol.
Today I'm working on translating an english srt/subs I found into Dutch, so I can show the episode to my kids tonight (they can understand english, but when actors are speaking fast and/or with words they don't know yet they tend to miss some puns and jokes in a comedy).
I'm sure they'll enjoy it as much as I did.
