Stay safe everyone! It seems whenever the northeast gets slammed hard, Texas likes to pretend it's summer. Hard to believe we're in the same country. I'll send some warm wishes your way .

Re: Bistro on the corner
I understand that when the conditions get worse in some parts in US it is better to stay indoors because most people don't have winter tires and the plowing made by the cities isn't there. But I did laugh a little with the CNN coverage of the NY blizzard when we have the exact weather in here and nothing stops.
The sky is spewing water, sleet and snow all at the same time today. And everyone goes about their business. And I'm not saying drivers here don't collision more here with their cars in this weather, they do...but we just don't care in here.

^What country are you from?
The weatherconditions of the Northeast of America has reached the news even here (the Netherlands). As I hate snow and ice and cold and everything involved with it (except for the beautiful white scenery once it's settled down) I wish you all well and most of all:
a good functioning heater.
And also lots of cups of tea, soup or hot chocolate of course.

Re: Bistro on the corner
From Finland, and we've had weird weather in the south here for all winter: snow and cold, then next day rain, then it all freezes again and becomes super slippery and then some more snow on top of that ice...and then repeat that cycle in the course of one week.
And today it's everything coming down at the same time.
But it is nice to just curl up under a blanket if you don't have to go out into that weather, and if electricity and networks are OK, then just watch something on TV or if technology isn't working then just read.

Re: Bistro on the corner
boy oh boy, my old tired bones are killing me! just spent an hour digging my car half way out of the damn snow. thank god the snow is still soft or else i would need to rent a cement drill for this job! btw i was lucky had help from one nice neighbor. he did the really hard part. i hate snow when it comes to the "aftermath". i just want the sun to come out, and the temperature to rise, so all of this nasty stuff can melt away. but checking the weather report, looks like the worse may not be over yet.
anybody living in florida? wanna invite me over for a walk on the beach? can't wait for summer...
and luckily i am in NYC. not long island or boston. my prayers to those who got hit worse than i was.

Girls, if I haven't commented so much if because my grandmom hasn't been well. And this concerns all my family as she started to feel weak all of sudden. And well, I simply want to ask you to pray for her, to ask God whatever he believes if the best. Just that.
Re: Bistro on the corner
Sending out good thoughts and prayers for your grandmother, for you, and the rest of your family. Hugs, my friend.

Kind of a sad day in the Star Trek universe.
He lived long and prospered. Goodbye Mr. Spock.

Re: Bistro on the corner
I met Mr. Nimoy at a convention many years ago and he was one of the most gracious and generous celebrities that I've had the privilege to interact with. I was a nerdy high school student and grew up watching Star Trek reruns, so meeting him was something akin to being in the presence of royalty. But he was kind and friendly and immediately put everyone at east with a joke and a smile.
Am really sad now because so many figures from my childhood are leaving me.

My condolences to you and your family, Romina.
You were clearly close to your grandmom, it must be hard to lose her now.

Re: Bistro on the corner
Hello from Brussels Belgium! I am here for the night before heading to Bruges in the morning, just a couple hours from Marie.
I had a busy three days in London! I walked a lot and saw so many of the major sights, including the tower of London, Westminster Abbey, Kensington palace, the London eye, and Shakespeare's globe theater.
My hotel was right around the corner from the south bank lion so of course I took pictures.
I will be sure to post pictures when I get home!

^Welcome to this side of the ocean, Karen.
Did the south bank lion speak to you? Or maybe gave a little wink?
I hope you have better weather in Belgium than we're having here atm (lots of rain).
Have a great time regardless, Bruges is really beautiful!
