i did a long and strenuous hike today in the nearby "mountain" (actually more like hills) today and am totally exhausted. it was a hilly and rocky 6 mile hike and after that i went to my gym to soak in the hot tub for a long time. for dinner i fattened myself w/ a big bowl of pasta. i hope you all had a great new years day.

That's a great way to spend new years, and I'm jealous because I would never have the discipline to do something like that. I rewatched The Reichenbach Fall so that my dad could see it before the new Sherlock ep (haven't seen it yet because I'm waiting for my dad to come home from work), as well as saw Pan's Labyrinth (which I loved) and The Princess Bride (which I seem to have grown too old to enjoy properly). I sound like such a couch potato compared to you

Re: Bistro on the corner
I went to the Werribee Zoo today with my housemate.
The two gorilla's weren't all that sociable, they were both asleep.
It is an open plane zoo, meaning the animals have lots of land of their own to wander.
There were a lot of animals that weren't sociable either.
Can't say I blame them being gawked at by humans nearly everyday.
The Safari was better as we got to travel on one of the buses. We saw camels, three types of antelope that are endangered, rhino, giraffes, zebra, bison, water buck. These animals were more active. Just saw the head of one of the cheetahs through some trees as they were lying in the shade.
The interesting thing about the water buck is they have no predators as their skin gives of this oil which makes them uneatable as it is that disgusting. Humans have killed them in the past, but could not eat the meat.

Sounds like a lovely zoo
If the animals are treated well and have good habitats, then the zoo's pretty good for wildlife conservation.
I didn't know that about water bucks, in fact I haven't heard of them before. Thanks

Re: Bistro on the corner
Merry Christmas Ivana! I would also like to know about the different date.
So as I mentioned before I got tickets to Criss Angel as a Christmas present; I went to the show on Thursday (Jan 2.) and it was AMAZNG! Some moments were kind of awkward because there was some innuendo (I was there with my mom, step dad, and little sister so...yeah.) But overall the show was awesome and even funny at times. I think the best part was when Criss Angel was A FEW INCHES AWAY FROM ME! He was near our section running up the stairs, high fiving people and then he stopped right when he got to me. I was going to put my hand out but got scared at the last second. He was about two or three steps down from my seat!! I've never been that to one of my favorite celebrities before.

Re: Bistro on the corner
it's because the churches separates back in the 11th century.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East%E2%80%93West_Schism
basically, we celebrate big christian holidays by the old calendar Julian calendar, as opposed the Gregorian calendar with is used in every day use to measure days. Christmas is on January 7th, because the difference is 14 days, and Orthodox new celebrated here and Russia and probably in a few other countries is on the 14th.

Now I understand why everybody was telling you happy christmas Tanita I hope you had a great celebration with all of your beloved people. And I had no idea about this separation.

thank you Ivana! always happy to learn more about the other parts of the world. one world, so many different cultures and customs and interesting things to learn.
Kurt Hummel (i feel so weird calling you this because you are actually a girl ), since you were so close to chris angel, did you by any chance figure out how he did the tricks?

Haha I've gotten used to being called Kurt Hummel on here. I don't feel comfortable using my real name online. I wasn't that close during the show but I did have a great view. I'm not sure how he did his tricks but they were amazing! I think I was too focused on watching the whole thing to pay attention.

Thanks for the interesting info, Ivana!
And glad you had fun, Kurt Hummel. If I were you I probably would be too focussed on the whole show to try and look for the explanation behind his tricks.

Now that I think about it, I don't remember Criss doing any tricks with his hands. I mostly remember a few times where he disappeared and suddenly ended up on stage.

Thanks! I couldn't take my eyes off the stage for a second. Well, I did close my eyes at one point because there was this really bright flash of light.
