Re: Bistro on the corner
i know the feeling. a few years back i went fishing with my dad in the middle of august in a wifebeater shirt. i got burned so badly on my upper back and shoulders that i had blisters all over my skin. it was a nightmare. so take care. here we have this foam you can use on damagee skin and this milk product "sour milk" that everyone eats that is also great to remove heat from burned skin.

Fortunately I have this great after-sun spray that I bought while I was on vacation in Spain last year that keeps the burn from destroying my skin. Between that and good old aloe, I'll be okay.

^ hope you get better (or better yet, didn't get too bad to begin with). i had a bad sunburn when i was a teenager. i tried to look like those american bikini beauty with gorgeous suntan because my own complexion is very fair. i was too young then and nobody heard of "sunscreen" yet, so i plunged into the sun one summer while on an island tour and came back severely burnt. i was in pain for over a week. probably was 3rd degree burn or something. it also permanently destroyed my otherwise perfect poreless skin. so now i walk out w/ a special made UV shielding umbrella plus sunblocks plus uv-blocking garments. i will never get my baby skin back but at least i will have no pain and no burn.

Re: Bistro on the corner
It's a never ending source of frustration that I will never really get tan. I come in two colors - white and red. Maybe on a particularly good summer I'll darken to a light beige but that's it. And even more annoying, in really strong sun I'll break out in a lovely rash all over my legs because I'm fucking allergic to the sun! *sigh*
Not really hurting, but you'd think that after so many years of not tanning that I'd stop trying.

what about artificial suntan colors? or simply, love the color you are born with.
i know in asia women are dying to get pale. dark skin are associated with peasantry and is considered ugly. this is what they dress up when they go outdoors:
i think they should borrow outfits from conservative muslin women.

Same here, although I sometimes get so many freckles from the sun that my skin looks a little bit browner than my usual white.Ranwing wrote:It's a never ending source of frustration that I will never really get tan. I come in two colors - white and red.
Being born in a family of redheads has its disadvantages (I don't have red hair but I inherited the sensitive skin).
Yesterday we had a fun family day at an aquapark (with many waterslides and swimming pools), and now my shoulders are also red and hurting. But a good, cool aloe vera bodymilk helps a lot.
Take care, Wendy. Let it be a small comfort that we share our tender skin type with our idol Chris.
Thank God for good sunscreens (factor 50), or we would need to dress like this every time we went to the beach:

@Ranwing, I'm with Kim, what about artificial suntan? Seems it makes you feel really frustrating not being to get a natural suntan, so this could be a solution.
On a side note, I found this video and brought back to my mind how we have discussed that HW still don't accept a gay man as a lead role, or how some actors prefer to not reveal their orientation to not get in trouble.

i'm going on a little family vacation for about 2 weeks. while i'm not super active lately, i won't be able to browse and take a look at the forum or post every day. i will go to a internet cafe every 2-3 days.

So upset about the death of Robin Williams. I've been in tears since the news broke. You start thinking of his pain and then the pain of his loved ones and then scenes from one of his best films have been going around in my head.

Re: Bistro on the corner
I'm just so shocked by this news. It's so sad. Looking at my facebook newsfeed, and seeing all of my friends posting about it, it's amazing to see how people associate him with so many different roles. He's done so much amazing work over the years. Mork and Mindy. Good Will Hunting. Hook. Aladdin. Dead Poet's Society. I could go on and on.
Re: Bistro on the corner
This is so shocking and devastating.
As soon as I saw my tumblr dash completely filling up with pics and gifs of him I didn't even have to read the comments anymore. And my first questions were "how?", "he wasn't that old yet?", "why?"... and it's all just so sad.
Damn. He brought so much joy into our lives. Why do people who give so much have to feel so lonely and alone themselves sometimes?
R.I.P. Robin Williams. Thanks for the laughter and the tears.

Re: Bistro on the corner
Chris really summed it up beautifully, didn't it. Everyone is affected by this news because Robin Williams had an affect on all of us.
Re: Bistro on the corner
^Yes. Robin Williams was like that crazy uncle you always hoped would show up at family gatherings.

I'm going to watch some RW films tomorrow. Such an enormous and often excellent body of work from silly to serious; comedy to drama; endearing to creepy.

Re: Bistro on the corner
i heard about his death HERE, after seeing chris' tweet. then i went googling. it was death by suffocation (hanging? drowning? either way what a terrible way to go!) consider that he's such a funny man you would think he lives and dreams in laughter. never would i think that he has such bad depression. may he rest in peace now that he will never have to feel sad anymore.
i read that he has 4 more new movies or something coming out. what a shame he can't be there when they are released!
