I don't get any shipping of real people but still I can at least somehow understand when is it made for fun on tumblr, but people who takes it seriously and bully someone just because real people don't date people fans would want to? It's really really beyond me. I read that some fans even tweeted very nasty comments to the girlfriend of Darren in the past.
