Hey, that's not entirely false, but some French people are not chauvinist, please do not generalize it to everyone, some could not take it so well !
I was kidding, don't worry, my compatriots do infuriate me too.

I'm glad that was just some awkward dude giving "tips". I seriously thought someone had said that to you after making a skin care donation. (I can't find a better euphenism for the LoS thread.)

I know and out of all possible threads it was this one! Feeling a bit guilty now.

I know it doesn't belong here but I must say to me it's really refreshing (and very sporadic nowadays) to see an interviewer bring up Glee and don't mention Klaine at all (while other interviewers mostly ask only about Klaine and nothing else). It reminded me a good all times kind of.

Is this the official, final french cover? What was the earlier, krhm slightly less beautiful, cover?
This one looks a lot better.

Re: The Land of Stories Main Thread
Connor reminds me of a 16 year old model... but he doesn't look like a child. It is a shame, the original cover is so beautiful. Why change it?

As to Lottie's question, I think the French publishing company has their own policies regarding using French illustrators on translated works, that's why they didn't use the American cover, which I think is gorgeous.

Yeah, I suspected some copyright/business complications. It is just a shame, as I truly believe TLoS has two of the most beautiful book cover for children novels. This one just looks so cartoonish. The originals ones really are outstanding and stand out from the crowd. I know I would see the books in a store without knowing Chris and the story.

Re: The Land of Stories Main Thread
What annoys me about is that there are some beautiful French illustrators out there, I suspect some insider/politics involved in getting this still relatively cartoonish style cover, which really isn't' to my taste. Then again, I'm not the target demographics.Lottie2303 wrote:Yeah, I suspected some copyright/business complications. Based on the phenomenal success of the first two The Land of Stories books, New York Times bestselling author and Golden Globe-winning actor Chris Colfer will publish two new books in the popular series, as well as his debut picture book it was just announced!
"The Land of Stories has been an incredible journey for me as a writer, and I am so happy the series has a home at Little, Brown Books for Young Readers," Chris Colfer said in a statement. "The fan support and love for these characters has been more than a dream come true -- I'm humbled and excited to be able to share these new adventures with my readers."
