awards do count, especially the major awards. the type of awards that don't count much is teen's choice award and people's choice award. they are more like popularity contest and hardly an acurate measure of actual talent.

I am especially proud when I see that Chris' credential mentioned for play 8 includes a long award and nominations list preceeding his name. Not bad for a young actor who's only been around for a few years! Hay Matt Bomer has none!
and Morrison has something?

c'mon! I thought we have freedom here! stop abusing your power as mod or else!
You know that your freedom stops where the other people's freedom starts and DC's pics are beginning to assault my freedom to see only Chris's pics on a Chris's board... Smile

I still haven't seen the play and probably won't till tonight at least, but I downloaded it and reading the reviews I think I'm gonna love it. Chris look fantastic last night.

For those of you who want to download it as well, do the fallowing : go to a site called http://keepvid.com/ and copy the youtube url in the download box. If you have java installed, in a few seconds to a few minutes links for download will appear ( various qualities and file types - flv, mp4, ... ). Just click the one you want and that is it.

I use this method a lot, as well as if you use Mozilla Firefox - install Net Video Hunter add on or Download Helper - they catch most of videos and music you play in your browser.

I wonder how they decided to list the actors/actresses with titles. They didn't bill Jane for her Emmy, or Jamie Lee Curtis for her two Golden Globes, or Martin Sheen for his awards. Or Christine Lathi for her Oscar and Emmys. Jamie, Martin, and Christine got theirs many years ago, but Jane's is recent.

I was able to watch 8 last night, but got swept up in the excitement and forgot to post about it here! Shame on me. ooppss

Anyway, I really really loved it. Not just Chris's part, although Chris was phenomenal, and his subtle, emotional acting during his scene moved me to tears. (The line about his character's mother saying she'd rather have a kid with down syndrome or an abortion than a gay son....yeah, I was already tearing up there before he even got to the suicide line crycry ). But I really enjoyed the entire play. I thought the majority of the actors were really really good, and I'm so glad they livestreamed the event so we could see the performance. I'd love to buy it on DVD if they chose to do so (or, better yet, they should cast Chris for the movie version Smile )

I loved seeing Chris act alongside George Clooney and Kevin Bacon, it was surreal, and it was even better how he held his own against them. I was so proud of Chris in that moment. wub (And, on the more shallow side, he looked soooo good last night!!!)

Brad Pitt and George Clooney may be known for their on set pranks but marriage equality is no laughing matter for these talented actors!

On Saturday, the famous best friends banded together to fight for gay rights and marriage equality by performing a benefit reading of 8 at The Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles. Written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, the play featuredA-listers (and prominent gay rights spokespeople) Chris Colfer, Martin Sheen and, of course, Pitt and Clooney.

Although the play only ran for one night, the star-studded performance was made available live on YouTube by the American Foundation for Equal Rights. Watch the video above and forward to the 30 minute mark to see the full play!

new interview of Chris from last night: link

article from LA times mentioning last night: link
He said kurt has some good "stuff" coming up.

"Glee" actor Chris Colfer said he researched and watched interviews of his character, Ryan Kendall, a witness for the plaintiffs who testified about his experience in gay conversion therapy.

I just saw the whole thing and Chris really was magical. Every word, every look, it carried so much weight and you could see in the beginning of his part, when he talked about figuring out being gay and the taunting at school that he must have related a lot. Everyone else was fantastic as well, I just wish Bomer had more to say compered to Morrison. But all in all, a very powerful play with a great message and a fundamental truth.

About Chris acting, though he was reading his text like everybody else was doing, I think he did great; I have no idea how is the real Ryan Kendall or how it was the real trial some years ago but I do believe what Chris was saying, I understand what he was feeling and gosh that last line about suicide and that tiny moment of silence previously to say " I would have killed myself" makes me shiver. I'm proud of this boy and I'm glad that everybody is praising him.

now I understand why the gay opponents don't want to show the actual trial. It makes them look ridiculous! their argements that gay marriage hurts heterosexual marriage and children don't hold up to the slight bit of scrutiny. also their experts look like morons. If the gay opponents allowed release of hte court records in the first place, it will probably just play on CSPAN and hardly anybody will watch; and hardly anyone will bother to read the long transcripts of the trial. But now the tide has turned and the whole trial is beign exposed as a form of "art" that entertains as well as educates. And as art it cannot be shut down because it's protected by the first amendment of hte constitution. I am glad my bb is a participants of this play. Very proud of him!

Another brilliant casting decision was Chris Colfer as a teen witness.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/mar/04/proposition-8-hollywood-stars-staged-reading?newsfeed=true

Most moving is the testimony of an unidentified man (Ryan Kendall played by Chris Colfer)who was once enrolled in "reparative therapy" for his homosexuality. When his parents read his private journal, they were aghast. His mother told him she hated him and he would rot in hell.

"You don't get anything worse than eternal damnation," he recounts mournfully. His parents flew him to a clinic in Encino, California, that purported to "convert" homosexuals to heterosexuals. When asked if the therapy worked, he cheerfully replies: "No, I am just as gay as I was when it first started."
