I didn't think I had any pictures to post. Someone else posted my picture with Chris. It is several posts back. I have on white shorts and a turquoise top. That is Chris and Alla looking at my pictures.

So, I finally got to thank Chris for writing TLOS on Friday. I said something like “I just wanted to say thank you for these books. I was 12 when my dad passed away, just like Alex and Connor. And he and I shared Harry Potter in a similar way to the twins and their dad. And when I was that age I would have liked nothing more than to fall into Harry Potter, so reading the first book was extremely cathartic for me. Especially because I was reading it while on the way to Orlando to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. So thank you so much for that.” and I started right away while saying all of this. And Chris was just looking at me with so much love and so sweetly and I just love Chris Colfer a lot. And he said he was sorry and said you’re welcome and all of that. And it felt so good to thank him for what he did for me without knowing it.

So, I wanted to write about my day today meeting Chris Colfer at Books & Books in Coral Gables Florida.


First off, I started off the day very nervous. I went there alone and had to drive 2 hours down to Coral Gables by myself. Where I live there is no paid parking or street meters so I was a little nervous about that, and also because I wasn’t exactly sure how much parking there would be because I knew that normally 400+ people showed up to these book signings.

Anyways, after 2 long hours I finally made it there and found surprisingly good parking (I did have to walk a few blocks though to get to the book store.) BUT, I made it so I calmed down a lot when I picked up my copy of tlos3 and found my place in the back of the line.

The line was already super long when I arrived there at 10:20 (the signing was at 11) and it was super hot outside, but I did enjoy talking to a few of the people around me.

When 11 finally came around the line began to move and we were let inside of the store, still in a line and turning a few corners before we stopped at a curtain. That is where Chris was.

The whole time I was waiting I wasn’t nervous, I felt MORE relieved that I actually made it there than anything else. I was up next and they pulled back the curtain and that’s when I saw him. I couldn’t believe he was really right there in front of me. I started shaking, I was ‘starstruck’, I understand that term now more than ever.

I had all three of my books for him to sign and a small gift that I had made him (shown above.) I’m not an amazing artist or anything but I wanted to make him something, and since I’m kind of a jewelry maker now I figured that would be a nice gift for him.

I think he could tell I was nervous when I approached him but he smiled so big at me and made me feel so unbelievably happy. He said hi to me then began signing my books, I was so nervous but I said hi back. He then noticed a small red box I was holding that I kind of wrapped like a gift and he said "Is this for me?" and of course I shook my head yes. He opened it and reached for tlos cuff I had made him first noticing the colors for each of the three books and said he really liked it and Alla said she liked the book charms I had added to the ribbons on the red box I had it in. It was so nice to give it to him and he made me feel like he genuinely liked it and was happy I was there.

After that he finished signing the books and sweetly pushed them back towards me and said “I hope you like them”, to which I responded "I love them." I then gathered my books, smiled and looked at him one last time and waved goodbye.

I never thought that I would have ever met him, I never thought he would ever be right there in front of me, but he was. And I will never forget how special he made me feel despite being just 1 person out of over 400 there today. I feel so proud of him and I feel so proud to be his fan.

I feel so lucky that I got to meet him once.

I met Chris Colfer (and Alla)!!  My hands are still trembling.  I regretfully say that I did what I always do when meeting people at signings and just kind of clammed up, being a fiercely introverted person, but he was so incredibly, amazingly kind.
I walked up and handed him my envelope and said “I wrote you a letter.”  The envelope had my name on it, because it was the envelope they gave us our tickets to the signing in, so he asked, “Are you Brittany?” and I said yes and he was just like “Oh, oh, okay!  Just checking.” And I explained that I didn’t have another envelope and was afraid of my pages getting separated or something, which made him chuckle and then he said something like “That’s fine,” and by then he was almost finished signing, so he said something akin to thanks for coming before sliding my stack of books back to me.  And I said thank you back and then managed to spit out a shaky “Can I shake your hand please?” and he just smiled and was like, “Sure!  Of course!” and then shook my hand and said thank you for coming again and I said it back again and then left.  It was super short but he was incredibly sweet and it was worth the long drive to get here and the wait before the signing outside in the heat.
And not super related to the actual signing, but just wanted to say that Alla and Will were both super sweet and walked through the fans and everything.  Alla came down a couple of times.  Once she took a picture of this statue in the first floor of the bookstore that was a father frog with an arm around his little froggy son reading to him, and they had set the second book in the series on the fake book in the statue.  It was quite cute and she took a couple of pictures there.  And up at the actual signing she stood by Chris’ side and chuckled when he did and took things given to him and everything.
Then a bit later before the signing while I was wasting some time looking at books in the store in the air conditioning before joining the signing line out in the heat, Will came in and walked through the store a couple of times before heading upstairs for a bit.  Then he came down again later while we were waiting in line outside and walked out with a few friends, maybe to go get dinner or something given the timing of this signing.  (I didn’t see him stop to take pictures with people or anything, but I heard people say he did in the Starbucks next door!  Like I said, he seemed to be with friends or something, so I understand him keeping moving.)  But whenever anyone said hi to him he’d grin and and wave and say hey back.  He didn’t in the slightest bit seemed weirded out that people knew who he was or anything - I only remark on that because I’ve seen people be like, “People shouldn’t say hi or stop Will, we shouldn’t even know who he is, leave him alone” etc.  He seemed quite happy to say hi to people, even though he was clearly on his way heading somewhere.  Nobody was disrespectful in any way to him, so he seemed perfectly content to say hello!
Oh, one more little story: an hour and a half or so before the signing, I went to the Starbucks next door to get some coffee and read some more of TLOS3, and while I was standing there waiting for my drink to be made, this lady walks in with a big square tupperware container and asks if they’ll fill it with ice, and they said sure, of course.  Anyway then the barista laughed and was like, “Is that for a dog?” and the lady was just like, “Ahhhh, no, it’s for a TV star, actually.  He’s doing an event here,” or something like that.  So that was an amusing way to find out Chris was already next door!  No idea what the ice was for, but there you go.
Anyway, all three of them just are gorgeous people (seriously, they’re so, so, so much prettier in person than you can possibly even imagine, wow) and every single one of them seemed super nice, and it made the experience that much more amazing.  <3
