At least they aren't using his season 1 or 2 Glee official head shots but an actual picture of Chris. Progress.

Award-winning actor, now author, Chris Colfer at 2012 ALA Annual Conference
CHICAGO - Award-winning actor Chris Colfer will appear in the high-profile Auditorium Speaker Series at 2012 ALA Annual Conference from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 23 in the Convention Center.
Best known for his starring role as ‘Kurt Hummel’ in the critically acclaimed Golden Globe® and SAG award-winning comedy "Glee," Colfer has authored his first children's book, "The Land of Stories," due to be released on July 17, 2012 from Little, Brown Books for Young Readers. A fast-paced adventure that uniquely combines our modern day world with the enchanting realm of classic fairytales, "The Land of Stories" tells the tale of twins Alex and Conner Bailey. Through the mysterious powers of a cherished book of stories, Alex and Conner leave their world behind and find themselves in a foreign land full of wonder and magic, where they come face-to-face with the characters they grew up reading about.
In other book-related pursuits, Colfer recently adapted "The Little Leftover Witch," a pilot for the Disney Channel based on the children's book of the same name by Florence Laughlin.
Colfer will next be seen starring in the independent film "Struck By Lightning," which he also wrote and produced. Brian Dannelly ("Saved") directs the coming-of-age comedy which also stars Allison Janney, Christina Hendricks, Dermot Mulroney and Sarah Hyland.
Colfer’s performance as ‘Kurt Hummel’ has earned him a Golden Globe®, two Emmy® nominations, a SAG nomination and inclusion in the 2011 TIME 100, Time Magazine's annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
Colfer appears courtesy of his publisher, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers.

Re: Chris at ALA Annual Conference, June 23, 2012
Question, in case one of you could help me, guys. My mom has friends in California who might be able to go to that ALA even Chris will participate into. Do you think it'll be possible for them to buy the book there and, perhaps, if it's not against the rules and it doesn't affect his image as a professional author, have it signed? The offered to do that for me, but I need to provide them with this information.

i think professional authors love to sign their books! please have them buy the book for you and get it signed - if it's available for sale over there and if chris is reacheable for signing. I can't imagine it being against any rules.

I think we need a librarian to answer this question.
Can you help out, CloveGlee?

Would it be fine if I PM'ed her? I like to be observant of etiquette, lol, and I don't want to bother her unnecessarily.
I could order it and have it shipped to me, but I think it won't get here in time, since its release will be in July, right? And I'd really like it if these people could bring me a signed copy! But I say, if Chris is one of the authors who will be featured at this event, it's only logical that it would be sold there, right?

Don't be so shy about sending PMs here . I'm sure she wouldn't mind. It's just that it's uncertain when she'll get the chance to check the messages in this forum, that's all.
I think I recall CloveGlee mentioning something about the ALA event being open only to librarians, so it's not an event where fans can gather to buy the book and get it signed (they'd leave that sort of thing for the official book tours after the book is officially released, I believe). I wouldn't be surprised if the librarians who signed up to attend the event would get an advance copy of the books before the event. Otherwise I don't see much point in getting a writer in to speak at the event when no one in the audience had even read his book yet.

There are two ALA events. The one in California is open to the public, for a fee. Even children can attend with their parents. At least that's what I got from the brochure. Hm. Gonna double-check.

Lol. No. Probably it's me who has no idea what he's talking about. I need to do further research. (I don't know what that smiley means, but I'm taking it as a ninja)
