The Land of Stories Release Frenzy!

Chris got down low to take a photo with Spence (after Spence declared, imperiously, “I’ll let you take one photo. Only one photo, please.”) and noticed that Spence doesn’t like to look directly at the camera.

So Chris said, “Spence, show me where you’re looking and we can both look that way.”

The photos above are the shenanigans that led up to that awesome pic at I posted earlier.

Aww, this and the photos are sweet. The little boy looks really happy.

Hi it’s your standard flailing ~help I met Chris and I can’t get up~ reaction post: Naperville book signing edition.

Wow, so like, I don’t even know where to begin. I know I’d been saying all week that I was going to puke on Chris when I met him and I was like, completely joking about it, but the closer in the day it got to the signing the more I could feel the possiblity of it happening I kid you not. LIke, my stomach was in knots for 4 hours before the signing.

But ummm let me see here … So Maggie and I got to the bookstore around 5:30 (it was this cute, small little place but apparently they do a ton of fairly big-name book signings there). We got our books and we decided to go get some food beforehand, since we were told that we wouldn’t have to be there until after 7:30. So we wandered around the area fora bit (during which I had a minor freak-out because I’d taken the battery out of my camera to charge it overnight and when I took out my camera to take a picture of something I realized I’d forgotten to put it back in and I started freaking out that I wouldn’t be able to take any pictures (and if you know me you’ll know that I’m a photo junkie and that would have seriously just killed me). But luckily my mom put it in the camera bag which was in Maggie’s car so everything was good whew)

But you don’t care about any of this. Anyway after we ate we decide to just go to the bookstore around 7:20 and see what’s up and that’s actually basically right when Chris got there (way to be late, Christopher) and he was like, across the entire bookstore so we couldn’t see him but people were literally climbing on the bookshelves to try to catch a glimpse (I won’t judge and bitch about it here I got it all out on twitter) but Maggie and I just sort of went into the corner and sat on the floor and started reading TLOS because we had numbers in like the 400s and so it took around 40 minutes for them to start lining us up (the entire signing lasted maybe a little over an hour it was all super quick).

But onto the important bit. So yeah, complete joking about vomiting and jumping Chris aside, once it was our turn to go up I was like … shaking. Completely, literally, physically shaking, it was insane. My stomach (which had been in knots the entire afternoon) was fine but like, my entire body was just tremoring.

So Chris was at this little round table in the back of the bookstore and there was this open area in front of him, but he was spaced off from it by this velvet rope barrier and we were told that beyond that barrier we weren’t allowed to take pictures. We talked to this nice lady who worked in the store while we waited and she was jsut telling us what a sweetheart Chris is and how he was saying that his cheeks hurt from smiling so much over the past two days but how he’s just so happy to be doing this for us and I was just standing there nodding because honestly I was just trying to focus on standing.

And then it was our turn and I just … I don’t know if I can do him justcie, I really don’t. He was just the nicest person and so so tiny and pretty and just … you could feel his happiness just rolling off of him in waves and it just made you grin like a loon. Our books were taken from us and his manager or someone was sliding them quickly toward him but he’d be looking up at you and smiling and being all “Hey honey, how’re you doing?” to EVERYONE and I knew that we didn’t have much time with him (ugh as much as I would want to. I jsut want to sit down with him and talk about writing all night). But anyway since it was going so quickly I sort of set aside the millions of questions I could have asked him and instead asked, because RAchel had asked me to, him if he could just write the word ‘hope’ in the second book I had gotten because it was for a friend that couldn’t attend the signing. And as soon as I asked, his manager or whoever she was I’m not sure, jumped in and was all, “I’m sorry we can’t do any special dedications” but he had just started to write it IMMEDIATELY and was scribbling the word down AS SHE WAS SAYING IT and he closed the book and slid it over to me with this cute little look like, “shh don’t tell anyone okay honey?” and I might have died just a little.

And then it was Maggie’s turn and she was all, “Hey, so it’s my 21st birthday but I didn’t expect you to get me anything so I got you something instead” and she handed him a llama she’d crocheted him. And he just looked at us and was all, “Oh, happy birthday, are you getting drunk tonight?” and we were both just like, “Yeah, totally, you’re totally welcome to join us if you want,” and he was all, “Oh man, I’d love to but I got drunk last night and I just can’t I’m sorry” (aldsfk adsflkDSALDSKFJA;SD) and then he looked at the llama and was marvelling at how cute it was and how she’d made it and reading the little tag and just complimenting her on how sweet it was and was all, “Thank you, honey” to the both of us as they started ushering us out and I just replied with, “No, sweetie, thank you so much” and then we were out the back of the bookstore.

We stuck around for almost an hour afterward too until he left and he just kind of circled the car a little waving to everyone and thanking us and literally everyone that had stuck around was thanking him and ugh. Yes that happened.

LOL, I always had the impression that Chris is a funny guy to drink with.

We were the only 5 people outside of the place- we weren’t even sure he was in there. then after about an hour and a half people started leaving and a really nice guy came out and said “Are you the nice ladies waiting for the Glee guy? he’s coming now!” Then he escorted Chris over and we asked for a group pic cause he said he was so tired. I got right up next to him and we took a few pictures. Then we said hi to Ashley who was with him and she yelled HOW AWESOME IS HIS BOOK! Colfink was flawless. His bodyguard remembered us from the signing, Chris said thank you and left, and l told him to get some sleep we waited a bit longer and met the host Andy soon.
I’m on my dying iPod- so pics will come In a day. But it was the best night of my life. He is a sweet heart and I am so happy.

I was really trying to calm down, but you know when you love someone so much, and they’ve helped you so much, you just don’t know how to handle it. Once we got in line, and closer and closer, I just, it was so overwhelming. The lady who works there comes up to me, and says “It’s okay, relax, he’s really nice”. And the other lady had to practically pull me to the table because I couldn’t move. Once I got to his table, I covered my mouth, and started crying so hard.

Chris: “Aww it’s okay don’t cry”.

Then I just stared at him, into his eyes, and he was just smiling at me. HIS EYES. They are like the sky and the ocean. I swear. I just, wow.

Me: “I just wanted to tell you that, you’re my hero”.

Chris: “Thank you, that’s the sweetest thing ever”.

The lady who works there, or I’m not sure who she was, but she sees my box and goes, “Oh is this a gift for Chris?” I just nodded.

Chris: *opens the box* “Ooooh, it’s steel, it’s glass”. He reads that what it says. Then he goes “Finally, someone that understands me!” And then he goes “Thank you so much, I hope you like the book”.

I almost forgot to take the book. And he smiles and hands it to me.

Me: “Thank you”.

My best friend told me there was a photographer next to her when they were taking pictures and when I got to him, she goes “Oh dear, oh dear”.

Then I got outside and completely lost it. Because my number one hero, who has helped me through so much, was just in my face.

He’s the sweetest person ever. Every time someone came up to him, he asked them how they were doing. And he had complete conversations with so many people. He calls everyone, sweetie, or honey, it’s seriously the most adorable thing ever. And holy shit, he is the prettiest person I’ve ever seen in my life. I don’t know how people can look into his eyes, and remember their name. It’s so hard to describe.
