Re: Apple talk Tribeca panel
Nothing makes me happier than the fact that he's branching out of Glee. Yes it's the show that made him and blah blah blah but honestly, even if he had been on any other show or film and had gotten his big break into showbiz, he would have still been doing what he's doing now, living his dream.
After this Season of Glee I've been terribly let down and disappointed with the makers and writers for ruining the show but most importantly giving Kurt's character such pathetic treatment over the course of the Season. If there was ever a time for Chris to start branching out and doing his own thing, it's now, and I'm thrilled that he's making a name for himself.
Sorry I got a little carried away and emotional in this post.

fantastica wrote:^ so far he's able to do both, which is great because he's earning a steady pay check in addition to being in public's eyes weekly. great for us fans to see him weekly. Being able to make one movie a year for a film maker is a big achievement already. the only thing he's sacrificing is the ability to be in someone else' movies, which may cast him as someone similar to Kurt so they may not be good for him.
Hm. I think what you say here is very true. Yet, sometimes I fear that being tied up to Glee for too long might not be the best for his career, given the quality of the show, and the fact that he doesn't seem to aim for becoming, you know, a completely "mainstream" entertainer. But, yeah, I'll put up with Glee for as long as he's a part of it, and I'm not going to go around campaigning or anything for him to leave the show. This is his career, and he knows what's best for it and himself. I'm just glad I can watch him succeed.

Re: Apple talk Tribeca panel
Chris doesn't "look" like a mainstream entertainer and he also doesn't "think" too much like a mainstream entertainer. Yet from his movies he seems to have mainstream enough appeal in his story telling in that the characters and storylines are mainstream enough for people to relate to, yet his approach is still qirky enough to be totally his own. as a film maker I see him being more mainstream than say Tim Burton, w/o losing his own edge, which means he can be quite commercially successful too. SBL is not ony a first step but a good test case too.
to be honest my worry for him to be typecast went mostly out of hte window after I saw SBL. this kid can ACT and he can really embody a character very well. There was not a trace of kurt hummel in Carson. I can totally understand why he loves writing for the characters so he can understand it literally from birth to death.

tim burton's movies have been "mainstream" ever since Batman. but his movies are a bit hit and miss for me lately. Maybe they are too mainstream.

I think a lot of chris' fans (especially those who are not big fans of anyone else) are quite hipsters yes! I for example am never interested in "mainstream" actors, no matter how cool or hot they are. they are just too common. only a man who is one in a billion can catch my eye. and that man is chris. I think I have flawless taste.

I'm glad to hear that nobody even thought of Kurt Hummel after watching the movie. Makes me all the more happy and confident that Chris will branch out of Glee without being typecast.
I completely agree with you Kim. I feel like he'll be successful in his own right. He won't follow the typical conventional route in terms of his career, but he won't be too offbeat to the extent that people won't care. From what I've seen people really seem to be connecting to his work. That'a a good sign .

Don't worry sahhar. Is good to spread out your feelings and what a better place than this one besides most of us we're agreed with you; I've said this before, Glee was the series that opened Chris doors to this business but the rest has been his own work.
Do you feel better? Need something to calm down?
On a side note: I would like to see Allison Janney winning an award for this film, it gonna be a good impulse to other actors for wanted to be in Chris's movies and publicity as well.

^ oh, sorry I'll edit my post
He was so adorable! He came out with his hood on and made the cutest face (“It’s so cold!”) and was the only one to stop and sign autographs in the pouring rain. They dragged him away shortly thereafter but god dammit he is always so grateful.

Handsome. I think I've mentioned before that I'd rather this natural/casual looks than anything else

Re: Apple talk Tribeca panel
"I read this script and I thought, ‘This young man cannot have written this script, because it has such depth and such understanding of life and all the ups and downs of life, this kid could not have written this script.’ I still am not sure that he wrote it actually. I think there’s an old man somewhere in a closet that’s doing all the writing for him. I read this script and I said, ‘I must do this movie no matter what. I must!’ And then I found out it was Chris and I’m such a fan of his that I just, I couldn’t believe that I was going to meet him and then do the film with him because I’m such a fan…I watch Glee all the time. Except when he’s not on it, and when he’s not on it I don’t watch it."

wow, Polly is a big Kurtsie too! and if he's not on it i won't watch it either!
