Re: The Land of Stories 3 : Book Tour 2014
To me this shirt looks blue.
But not many Skokie ones at the moment.
So today I met one of my favorites and got to tell him how much I appreciate him and love his work.

So here’s my background to my encounter with Chris Colfer.
I live 15 minutes from Anderson’s Bookshop, so when the signing was first announced, I knew that I would go see him sign no matter what. I called at 5 pm or so the first day that it was announced and asked if tickets were available for the signing yet. They told me that if I ordered right now I would be third in line, so of course I did it. At the time I got 2 copies of TLOS3.
The day of the signing I was so nervous, and excited, I’ve been a huge fan of Chris for 3 years now. I left my home around 5:30 and arrived at Anderson’s at 5:45. When I got there I got my books, and the person was like “Woah you’re third in line, you’re lucky.” This is because there were over 400 people at the signing last night!
When I got there people were getting past books signed, so I decided to get the books that I haven’t gotten signed yet signed. So I brought a paperback copy of Struck By Lightning and a hardback copy of TLOS1. I have TLOS2 signed thanks to Caitlyn, who got me a copy signed by him at The Grove last year.
Anyways in line I was really nervous, but I talked to a few people. However the most important people that I met there were Lainey, Bris, and their friend who were 1 and 2 in line. They were seriously the nicest people. I came alone to the signing (Although I wish my Dad came to take photos now), and they helped me throughout their signing. Credits to the photos of me meeting him also go to them.
Anyways I was so nervous and stuff that I was shaking when I talked to him but I mentioned that he was my inspiration for three years, and that I was so nervous to see him. I told him that because of him I got into my dream College, Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, and that Jane Lynch spoke their at Graduation once and he was like Oh, Really? And then I shook his hand. I also gave him a letter that I wrote. He’s flawless, and perfect, and i wish that I took better photos now but oh well. No regrets.
After that I left the signing and then I called http://sexuallyambiguousphan.tumblr.com/ and flailed over how gorgeous he is. She did the same to me last year after she met Chris and Will, so I of course had to do that in return.
Anyways it was a perfect day and I have no regrets

i can’t believe i’ve met one of the most brilliant minds of our generation, Chris is so sweet and really cares about what you have to say. I’m still in chock over how beautiful and smart he is.
I gave him a card with a silly cat joke and he laughed I’M SO IN LOVE.
I also told him about how he was one of the reasons why i write now :’)

I went to the TLOS signing today! I met up with jhatesyourcrocs (who took the first picture), sassyblaien, sadlittlesuperburrito, and kurthazuki/coIferstreet on twitter and they were all really nice and awesome. Obviously I was very early in the line, and Jasmyn and I were positioned so that we could see Chris when he came in. The crowd didn’t make too much noise when he arrived, which I thought was nice.
Chris is very lovely in person, and honestly being able to see the imperfections in his skin without all the makeup he wears for TV is nice because it really made it sink in that he’s definitely a real person. And he looks very good in navy blue.
Anyway, when I got to the table, he asked me for my name and so I introduced myself and by that point he was signing my second book, so I explained that it was for my sister (dinocert) who’s in Germany for her gap year and that she said “Guten Tag!” I handed him my letter and explained that it included a story from the town my sister is staying in that’s like a real-life fairytale so I thought he’d appreciate it.
As I was walking away, I suddenly remembered that I’d forgotten to tell him one thing, so I quickly turned around before the next person came up and told him that I was the person who sent him the link to the video of Beyoncé saying the infamous sandpaper quote. His eyes got really wide and he was like “That was you? Oh my god, thank you so much for that!” I said “Thank you!” and walked away backwards. I saw Alla turn to him and ask for clarification about what had just happened and he told her something like “She’s the one who told me where that sandpaper quote people used to think I said really came from” (I can’t remember exactly what he said, but that was the gist of it).
Then I went past a bookshelf and lost sight of him and spent the next hour or so freaking out about the fact that I’d just talked to Chris Colfer.

Was fun going to the book signing in Naperville. It was crowded and the bookstore was small. Chris Colfer was very nice. He seemed very excited when I told him that although I liked his TLOS books, I loved Struck by Lightning. He told me that he plans on writing more YA fiction which I was glad to hear. I have recommended SBL to everyone because I think the material is timeless, no matter how old you are. Everyone can relate to the time in their lives and those feelings of insecurity and uncertainty, while also having so many dreams and aspirations. Anyway, I was in the first group of about 400 and they pushed us through very quickly. I felt badly for Chris Colfer because there was so much activity going on around him that it must have been difficult to give attention to his fans while also dealing with what seemed like an assembly line process. Still, he was so gracious and kind to people he had my utmost admiration.

So I may have accidentally left my video on in my purse when I met the amazingly hot and gorgeous Chris Colfer today. First you can see Suz meeting Chris (she flew in from England!) and then you can hear me and see most of his face and our convo. Still shaking my friends - how I managed words IDEK.
