Now that I've thought a bit about it, I think I would have preferred it if Rachel had told Kurt about the Finn tattoo. Because now Kurt was not only upset that his tattoo was messed up, but he also found out at the same time that Rachel chickened out and didn't uphold her side of the bargain (that they both would get a tattoo together). And Rachel was even the one who suggested it!

This isn't the first time Rachel pulled this. She did the same thing when she told Finn that she had slept with Jessie (which got him to sleep with Santana) and then admitted the truth after the fact. I'm not a huge fan of these manipulative games that get her partner in crime into trouble that she wants to avoid.

I get that she would want the fact that she got Finn's name tattooed on her was something very special and private and that she didn't want to go showing it off (though I think that Kurt would have been very supportive and happy to see that Finn meant so much to her), but there was absolutely no need to pull Kurt into it.

Someone on another board also pointed out that having her dead ex-boyfriend's name tattooed on her is going to make her future relationships a bit iffy. I totally understand that they wanted this tribute to be unambigious to the audience, but in real life it would have been better for her to have selected something that would symbolize Finn that only she would understand the meaning of. My first thought would have been the constellation with the star that Finn had named after himself for her - that would have been artistic and feminene and she could keep to herself what the tattoo really means. Otherwise she'd better be prepared every time some guy sees her naked to answer the inevitable question, "Who's Finn?" And have to deal with his death over and over again.

Meh, I don't mind her getting the tattoo and keeping it a secret. I got Rachel's decision. I am also glad she got one, as I was so annoyed when she declared she actually bypassed the tattoo, but at the end of episode and after the revelation I really understood her perspective. I also think Kurt needed the tattoo SL to be really be about himself, without his friends interfering and realizing on a personal level he actually likes it and found a way to fix it.

BTW, someone pointed out in the instagramm thread, there is no tongue piecing in the picture of Kurt with the puppett. Guess it will be gone soon agaon.

No surprise there. I had a feeling that after having the barbell clang against his teeth one time too many it'll be gone. Besides, it wasn't something that he actually wanted in the first place but I'm kind of glad that he did it. Just to push him out of his comfort zone a little bit.

I really liked that tattoo guy. I liked how he didn't call Kurt e.g. a sissy or a softie, but helped him true to his (Kurt's) character.

I think when they were casting, the call said it was for a real tattoo artist with tattoos, so most of them are probably real (well except for the John Davison one).

^I think the real tattoo artist was the one putting the tattoo on that girl, though. The talking guy must have been a legit actor (or he was a first try natural actor, cause his line delivery was fine).

That's sweet. I'm glad Kurt still keeps that picture/poster . I'm sure that despite of the things that has happened lately, he's still has good memories from those days he was an Adam's apple.

And,umm I can't believe I'm saying this, but I wonder why they wanted Chris to be shirtless , if the tattoo was small and was on the top of his back. So I think he could have let his robe down slightly, as he did when he showed it the tattoo to that boy at the diner. Also as he did when he opened his shirt and showed Rachel his renewed tattoo. Please dont get me wrong, I'm glad this boy finally showed that amazing body he has, it was time. But still I wonder why they decided to do that. Is just like as someone said on twitter, I was expecting a victorian exposure, and not an overload of skin.

P.S I've realized he didn't have a undershirt under his shirt. Did he throw them away?

I liked the episode. I still couldn't believe it actually Kurt/Chris shirtless.

I just realized, this is the first time Kurt actually took over Rachel's SL. Usually Kurt gets a SL, someone else enters the picture and that person gets the conclusion. Or Kurt is just the sidekick through all steps of the process.  

However, this SL starts with Rachel being rebellious, talking to Kurt and then the entire SL shifts to Kurt, his tattoo and his maturity process. Simultaneously, Rachel is actually integrated very natural in the SL and a great voice of reason, without her either overshadowing or getting neglected (I really loved Hummelberry last episode!). In terms of NYC, RIB are currently doing it very nicely and finally give all three characters fair and equal focus. Santana got Dani at the beginning and will be back soon. Color me impressed. I really like some recent developments.

It is too bad the NYC-spin off never happened. You can see all the potential but the McK really tears down the goldmine that is happening in NYC

I really liked the fun, silly NY scenes with great acting and shirtless Kurt...and the scene with Rachel's tattoo of Finn was touching.

@Lottie, I read some tumblrs saying that when RIB do Hummelberry well, they do it quite well. Probably it might referred to the 'equal' plot Kurt and Rachel had, though as you mentioned, this time Kurt's plot overshadowed the one of Rachel. But putting that aside, I think people liked they show them being supportive to each other and having this natural chemistry and fluid friendship they have, not competing to each other as we haven seen lately.

I haven't talked about MK, and sincerely I believe that Will had an extreme attitude this time, by one side I liked he treated Unique so well, and understood his situation, he even allowed him to use the 'faculty bathrooms', and somehow he sacrificed his 'twerking' obsession in order to help him. However, still I don't get why he defended so hardly the 'twerking', and I agree students are free to dance why they want, but I insist a teacher can't be doing those sexy movement in the hallway and stage with their students. It seems is something that Will haven't learnt, do you remember Toxic?, and is because he actually put his personal reasons instead of sincerely worrying about these kids. For me, the only thing he wanted was to beat Sue, and as she was against this 'porn dancing', he started this silly objection.

Speaking of Jarley, still I believe 'Wrecking Ball' wasn't a good choice, and is because they haven't dated for so long and though I feel bad for her, and Jake should have run to Bree's arms (or body) after she rejected to not have sex, still I believe they haven't dated for so long to have this reaction. I've read the original song is about Miley and his ex boyfriend, and unlike Jarley, they had broke after being years together and they were getting married. I simply believe they picked u this song because is a Top 40 Hits. And also they don't care about the timeline, because it was released after August.

After rewatching today I noticed that I almost get an allergic retching reaction everytime I see the Lima parts. It just doesn't hold any interest for me anymore, besides Artie (and Kitty if she's with Artie).

Mr. Shue always seems to make the wrong decisions and they are wasting Matt's talents, Marley is a wet blanket and I don't care about her woes, Jake is stupid (though Jacob's dancing is hot), I never liked Ryder in the first place and now that they dropped the catfish story with no resolution at all I can only see him as a choir room filler, Unique's transgender/bully story is a rehash of Kurt's and Alex simply cannot act, Tina is completely ruined and annoying, Sam is just icky ugh, Bree is even less talented than the noobs, Becky is downright scary and offensive, and Jane Lynch is struggling to keep Sue at least somewhat interesting and it's not working anymore

And last but not least: Blaine. I disliked him before, even hate him for what he's done to Kurt, and his song and screentime hogging is one of the biggest frustrations of watching Glee. But this episode I noticed that I literally cannot watch him on screen anymore: Darren's horrible 'dramatic' acting when Blaine found out that Tina was filming his twerking, his pissed off and then pleased looks when they were discussing that video in the choir room, the multiple focus on his unimpressive butt while twerking, and his supposed modest "Oh please don't applaud for me" gestures to the McKinley kids who cheered them on after 'Blurred Lines'. It's just grating.  
And to think Kurt is engaged to that oilslick and has to spend time with him, ugh.



Other topic:
I've read on several different sites that Kurt tattoo storyline should have come before the band forming one of last episode, and I kind of agree. You'd think that after being able to get Dani, Santana, Rachel and someone as Starchchild for his band he wouldn't be such a droopy couch potato the week after.
It would have made more sense if he first had gotten the tattoo and the confidence boost that came with it, and then decided it was time to make some progress with forming his band.

What could have prevented this feeling of disconnect or different order in storylines was a line in this episode (5x05) stating that the band was formed and it was fun, but Kurt had trouble getting a gig booked for them, so they were kind of stuck for now, which would explain Kurt's apathy at the beginning of the episode.
But, considering Glee's track history with forgetting previous storylines and writing episodes in a vacuum it's not so bad, I guess.

i still haven't seen the whole episode. i started yesterday morning but had to stop 25 minutes in because i had a prior engagement and haven't found the time to watch it yet.

did see bare-chested chris thought, so that is a plus. and all the lovely gifs and screencaps help as well.

chris has come a long way. remember he was kinda chubby in the beginning of S1? before he joined the show he used to be REALLY chubby. it takes a lot of hard work and will power to lose all this weight. now he looks like a lean athlete (runner and high-diver comes to mind).

all i can say is he's inspirational in many things.
