“I dodged the idea for a bit, and then decided it would be a challenge, and I’m always up for that. I’m going to be playing Ryan Kendell. It’s one of my favorite moments in the play, and the most emotional, but I promise I’m not going to be as good as Chris Colfer was in the role.”

That is really awesome that he said that. If they do ever make this a movie, my hope is that they keep Chris in the role and expand a bit more as it is necessary for people to know about these camps.

banzai I love that he wants to do his own thing, but I would love to see him "only" have to worry about the acting side. Also, I want him in a high profile production for selfish reasons as well (because I need his acting.)

I hope Chris does more stagework someday soon. He will be on Broadway someday, mark my words.

Probably with Shirley Todd, that he wrote in high school. I think that is what he is planning to do sometime in the future.

^I don't think Shirley Todd is possible. Chris would never get the rights to re-write and stage Sweeney Todd for a professional production.

But he'll probably write something else for Braoadway. Smile

The only things about Chris on Broadway what bothers is there would be no chance that I could see him there. :(

It would be great if he wrote something for Broadway one day but I hope he also get to be in something whatever it's a play, movie or another tv show he didn't write... It's great and benefical he has the writing ability but I hope he also will get interesting offers for someone else's projects.

Even for those who cannot make it to NYC, there will always be YouTube clips of his performances! Smile (That's how I "see" productions that I can't get to).

Seeing Chris take on "Being Alive" and proving that he could sing a tenor role beautifully, I'd love to see him tackle another Raul Esparza role someday. If they ever bring back "Tick,Tick...Boom!" to off-Broadway, I'd love to see Chris play Jon. Any thoughts?

I'd love to hear Chris sing "Why" or "Louder Than Words."

Raul was also Riff Raff in Rocky Horror.

Raul is a very charismatic performer (I've seen him in Rocky Horror, Company, and TTB). I'm sure that Chris could do any of those roles (though he needs to wait a while to do Company).

Could you imagine Chris performing "30/90"? It would be a mind trip for him at first, I imagine....seeing as he was born in 1990. But regardless, it's one of my favorite TTB numbers, and I'd love to hear what he could do with it. I love "Why" and especially "Louder Than Words" as well.

Re: Proposition 8 Play

This is kind of off-topic, but I was listening to the CD "Jonathan Sings Larson" and being a big fan of his works "RENT" and "Tick,Tick...Boom!" I must say that I am struck by how similar the writing styles of Chris and Jonathan are.

-Full of youthful energy (Jonathan died right before his 36th birthday).

-Fighting for the underdog and for what is right.

-At times innocently naive, but at other times not shrinking away from very adult subject manner.

-Hopefully optimistic, yet at the same time, bitterly pessimistic.

-Using art as an escape from reality.

-Wanting to make the world a better place through their art.

-Highly intellectual.

-Tons of clever and cheeky political references and lots of puns and wordplay. Blink and you'll miss some of them. The work needs to be re-read over and over again in order to discover them all.

-A delightful sarcastic sense of humor used to cope with awful circumstances.

-Having dreams of doing something noteworthy and great.

-Extremely good hearted and well intentioned.

The only difference was that Jonathan was a songwriter/musician and had music flowing through his veins. He wrote songs and wrote for musical theatre. His big love was writing musical plays, with the script being held together by musical numbers. Chris is a straight up script writer and writes movies and books without musical numbers.

Back to Prop 8, it really did sound like Chris was talking about his own story at first. Not about his parents hating him, but about being in the closet at school and having the kids bully him about being gay anyway. That fear and hurt is very real.
