Most moving is the testimony of Ryan Kendall, played by gay American television actor Chris Colfer, who was once enrolled in "reparative therapy" for his homosexuality.

the "who" is to describe Ryan or Chris? I know it should describe Ryan but as English is not my native language, my first reaction is "Chris was never enrolled in ..."

That was the first thing I thought as well, then I noticed the 2 commas.

And as objectively as I can judge, I agree about his part being the most moving. Ryan's story was really heartbreaking, and Chris showed that so well.

From Tumblr:
Preview: My interview with @chriscolfer from Glee

Recently at the red-carpet for the LA premiere of ’8′, a play by Lance Dustin Black about the courtroom battle over same-sex marriage in California, I had the opportunity to interview Chris Colfer(Glee). Chris and I had a good laugh over the fact that we both had George Cloony “Batman” action figures when we were younger.

Check out a bit of our interview:

Karamo: What was it for you to be a part of this tonight?

Chris Colfer: I think, I feel like I was a part of history tonight… and it angers me so much to know that we are again living in such an ugly chapter of our countries history… you know if we are not discriminating this guy then we are discriminating against that guy. So it feels good to be on the right side of history.

Karamo: You were on stage tonight with legends (Brad Pitt, George Cloony) How was that for you.

Chis Colfer: It was amazing being on stage with them. I am honored… I literally have an action figure of George Cloony from Batman and Robin, there I admitted it.

Karamo: You’re not alone I had alone one too.

Chris Colfer: Really (lol) I was seven, how old were you?

Karamo: Lets say I was 8 (Then we high five each other)

Chris Colfer: There you go… It was great to be with them (on stage) and be in such a supportive environment.

Another article about the prop 8 play:

Impressions of Dustin Lance Black’s Play ’8′ and Why It’s So Important

...
The words and the embodiment of the character. Nowhere was that more moving that in “Glee” actor Chris Colfer’s portrayal of Ryan Kendall, an expert witness for the plaintiffs in Perry v Schwarzenegger (now Perry v Brown) who testified about being forced to undergo so-called reparative therapy to be converted from gay to straight by the odious and discredited NARTH and Dr. Nicolosi.

Just as Clooney and Pitt may have drawn YouTube audience members in to see the play about Prop 8 who might not have seen or heard or cared about Prop 8 – Colfer might have drawn in the Gleeks. And if that’s the case, they got to see what happens to a kid when parents are worse than demeaning, pushing and slushy-throwing high school bullies. Just the way Colfer sat in that chair – his body language, his demeanor – spoke volumes about the hurt caused by the antigay animus at the center of the Prop 8 trial.

AFER is planning on taking 8 off of You Tube tonight, so watch Chris one more time before they do that. Hopefully some of the segments of him will remain on You Tube.

why Chris is a subtle actor - at first glance it's a regular, "nothing" look. but look again you will realize it says "I am trying not to cry" all over his face. There's hardly any muscle movements on his face, yet he's able to convey all the painful emotions on that face.

Either he's very good at what he's doing or I am reading too much into it.

No, you're not reading too much into it. It's not very visible on the gif but one of the thing I found the most moving was the movement of his neck, it completely translated the very heavy breathing he had on the moment. On the surface, there may not be a lot of signs (although I think there was a ton, especially with the lips) but on the inside, it must have been a storm.

You're not reading too much into it. He was definitely putting so much emotion into it. That was right after the "I would have killed myself" line. Chris just showed so much subtle emotion after that.

I agree. I love Chris' subtle expressiveness. He always amazes me that he gets every single facet, right down to the breathing. I have no doubt that he really was fighting not to cry in that moment. I feel my throat tightening and my eyes welling up just looking at the photo.

I just know that young man is bound to win an Oscar someday!

Hi, guys. I just wanted to let you all know that I am going to be doing a straight, serious, non-snarky recap of "8" on my blog. It's going to take some time, but the play is off youtube now and I wanted to have a chronicle of it.

You know, I went to that site and they have to modify Chris's degree from Kevin , but is based on IMDB so probably that why it hasn't changed.

About the prop 8 play:

What were some memorable moments of the evening?

Martin Sheen, Christine Lahti, Jamie Lee Curtis, & Chris Colfer were so awe-inspiring, their heartfelt performances had the entire wardrobe department in tears backstage. And when we realized that Barbra Streisand was in the audience—game over.

- Avo Yermagyan, the stylist for the play.
