Chris wins a Golden Globe, 2011/01/16
Since this was such a wonderful day for Chris and his fans I thought I would make an exclusive thread about Chris winning his (first?) Golden Globe on January 16th, 2011.
I will post all videos I can still find, and some gifs and pictures.
TBH: this idea came to me after seeing this gif set on tumblr:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let's start this thread properly with an interview when the nominations were known:
And an interview on the red carpet before the awards show:
Another red carpet interview:

Chris' Acceptance Speech:
"I think I just dropped my heart between Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore, so if anyone sees that please give that back to me.
I can't believe this. Thank you so much, Hollywood Foreign Press. I have to thank Ryan Murphy for basically being my fairy godfather. Everybody at Fox, Robert Ulrich for submitting me to the show when there was nothing to submit me for. Our amazing, amazing, amazing crew, who keep us sane through the crazy times, and our very talented cast — you guys owe this, I mean you guys deserve this as much as I do.
But most importantly to all the amazing kids that watch our show, and the kids that our show celebrates, who are constantly told no by the people in their environments, by bullies at school, that they can't be who they are or have what they want because of who they are...Well, screw that, kids."
Robert Ulrich talks about Chris thanking him at the Golden Globes:
Aaaaaaaaaand now, finally, pictures:

Thank you for doing this Marie.
This was the best day in the Glee fandom.
To think this kid had no formal training in acting, never had any former roles, just came out of nowhere with a genuine talent for catchering a character created for him and turning him into someone that felt real, that you just had to care about.
I know a lot of people have said he is a gifted actor, and they are 100% correct.

I guess it's a good thing he plays for a different team then. If he was straight and had a girlfriend, we'd be weeping with a mixture of happiness and envy. Oh wait....

I'm really starting to wonder what Chris would look like as a 40 year old now.
Re: Chris wins a Golden Globe, 2011/01/16
Although back then I wasn't even a gleek, still I noticed how genuinely honored he felt, and in addition everyone was so happy for him. That I felt the same too. I felt he deserved it.
Re: Chris wins a Golden Globe, 2011/01/16
As for acceptance speeches are concerned, his was pretty good one: a real and not filled with cliches. Every now and then you see these real Thank You's at the galas, they always make me smile. He thanked the creator, people who got him there, cast mates and fans. Family was the only one he didn't mention, but at that kind of situation, work related, I'd probably forget them too.
I wasn't aware Chris had won an award and hadn't actually paid that much attention to Golden Globes before but then someone suggested me to watch him winning. You can really still, now that we've seen him in countless public events and shows, tell from that tiny two minute segment that he was totally suprised at winning. I think a lot of these 'old beards' and big names at the front tables were surprised and geneainly became interested in this young man and why he might be good.

Thank you for creating this thread and putting all the interviews surrounding Chris's Golden Globe win in one place, Glorfindel
As much as I like seeing him win awards like PCA and TCA, it's only truly gratifying when I see him win an award with much prestige like the Golden Globes. Winning the Golden Globes is a testament of his seriously good acting talent, instead of how many internet-savvy fans he has.

Forgot to comment some pics that I like
-I've always loved Chris and Cory friendship for me Cory is like his older bro.
-What was he drinking? Where is his beloved diet coke?
-I love he's posing with his two besties. Cute
-When Anne Hathaway stood up for this boy, I realized he was a big thing.

What a night that was. I remember watching and just squeeing like mad when they announced Chris's name as the winner. This was a case when you would have happily agreed that just being nominated would be honor enough for Chris (especially considering who he was in competition with in his category). For Chris to win that night was just such an out of the world moment for those of us who've loved Chris from the moment we first saw him on our tvs.
I must have watched the clip of his acceptance speech a few hundred times since that night (Thank you, YouTube!). The way Diana was bouncing in her seat in delight and Ashley was kissing him while Chris looked completely stunned. That all Chris was able to do was get up on stage (remembering to button his jacket) and give that totally off the cuff speech.
As painful as it is to watch Glee sometimes nowadays, this is a reminder of just how good it was in the beginning. And why it's impossible for some of us to break away from it.

I remember everyone just sensing how wonderful it was that Chris won. Everyone in that room (and at home in front of the tv) was happy for him, there was this overall feeling of wanting it for him when he won. It was as if something good happened to someone who really deserved it, and we all knew it. It was special.
A lot of people's hearts in the audience probably also melted when they saw how shocked and white he was when he walked up to the stage. And then he gave that marvelous speech.
I still can't believe he managed to utter any coherent words while he was so visibly shaken, let alone a speech that was perfect in every way, especially the ending.
It was the speech of the evening, no doubt.

I knew as soon as I saw him give that speech, that is was not fame that was important to him, he wants to make a difference in the world.
I can see it now in how he does things, with his books, his movie.
What Glee isn't doing anymore to help stuggling kids, Chris is still doing it.

When I started being a Chris fan this was one of the very first videos I’ve watched. I totally loved it and it just increased me being a fan tenfold. He seemed to sincerely shocked, honored and happy. You totally could see he didn’t expect to win.
His speech was epic on many levels. I would have loved the speech without knowing Chris. It was inspirational, to the point and so unique. He also addressed those kids who needed some guidance and inspiration.
It is sad we never get such a moment again as long as he is with Glee. But at least he got this Golden Globe and received respect on HW from an early age. It makes me hopeful for future projects.

My favorite Chris moment. I started getting into Glee/Chris very shortly after this moment. I love how Chris has already either been nominated for and/or won almost every major award that a TV actor can get. Won the Golden Globe, nominated twice or three times for the Emmy, nominated for the SAG award, won a People's Choice Award...I think all that he is missing as a Critic's Choice nomination!
And while I don't care about joke awards like MTV, Kid's and Teen's choice awards (snobby, I know), it's still nice to see more Chris exposure.
