Re: Songs You Want Glee To Sing
Since there is nothing that I want to see more than Kurt to put McKinley, Lima and Blaine firmly in his rear view mirror, this would be an amazing song for Kurt to perform as he's bidding farewell to his past as he moves back to NY and focuses on his life there. I absolutely love this song and while the original singer has a strong rock voice, I think that Chris can really do an amazing job performing this in his lower register. This is a live acoustic version.
Another great song from the same band that would be a perfect "Goodbye Lima/Blaine/McKinley" for Kurt. This one is a bit more assertive/angry.

I would love this to be a Hummelberry duet in the finale, a final song even, with them making their way back to NYC:

I am a big fan of 60's music. I would have love Kurt to sing an updated version of this song to Blaine. Especially after the Elliot event.
It is called You don't Own Me. By Lesley Gore.

^Love that song.
The version they did of 'You Don't Own Me' in the movie The First Wives Club was very good too. And darn, now I want One Three Hill to cover it like that.
I was at a big party last saturday, and they had a big screen where a dj showed old clips from the eighties. This was one of the songs they played, and I remembered how I've always wanted Kurt to sing it, maybe with Quinn, or Santana:

Re: Songs You Want Glee To Sing
I pulled out my old MP3 player and started listening to a few things that I hadn't listened to in awhile and came across this gem. I don't think that Glee ever did Pink Floyd (which is an absolute crime since they had some of the best song writing) and it would be a great song for Kurt as he sorts out his feelings about his life this season.

Given that Glee loves to test Kurt's "resilience" and isn't going to let him have anything other than small, hard won (usually only moral) victories, and not without dragging him over broken glass first, this would be such an ideal song for him to sing.

^Funny, that's been one of my most wanted songs for Kurt to sing as well.
(and in its original key please)
It's a very powerful song, and with the little obsession Chris developed for 'Burlesque' a few years back he probably would love to sing it.

Great minds think alike.
It would be sublime in the original key (which would be right in Chris's mid-lower range if I read it right) and Chris has a wonderful richness in that portion of his range (think warm caramel) that would really suit this song. And he can certainly communicate the emotion of the song.
And yeah... Chris loved this film so throwing him a small bone given how Kurt's storyline is going to be butchered this season wouldn't be unreasonable. Honestly I can't think of anyone else in the cast who could do this song justice.

Re: Songs You Want Glee To Sing
Am enjoying some old favorites from my high school days (yes I'm dating myself and don't judge). My taste has always been very eclectic as far as music goes (ranging from opera to heavy metal) and I had a fondness for some of the New Wave groups in the 80s. Adam Ant was one of my particular favorites (because I loved to costumes as well as the cheeky lyrics) and I would give anything to see Kurt dressed in the costume and really able to play up the sassy stage persona that Kurt really has in him. And yes... he would be sexy as all hell.

Re: Songs You Want Glee To Sing
My oldest daughter and I watched a show called 'The Leading Ladies on Broadway' tonight (it's on youtube: link) and now I want Kurt to sing 'Could I Leave You' from Follies (Sondheim) to Blaine soon after the wretched wedding, when once again it will be made clear that Klaine still cannot live together:
"Leave you? Leave you?
How could I leave you? How could I go it alone?
Could I wave the years away? With a quick goodbye?
How do you wipe tears away when your eyes are dry?
Sweetheart, lover, could I recover?
Give up the joys I have known?
Not to fetch your pills again every day at five,
Not to give those dinners for ten elderly men from the UN.
How could I survive? Could I leave you,
And your shelves of the world's best books.
And the evenings of martyred looks, cryptic sighs,
Sullen glares from those injured eyes?
Leave the quips with a sting, jokes with a sneer,
Passionless lovemaking once a year?
Leave the lies ill-concealed and the wounds never healed,
And the game's not worth winning and wait, I'm just beginning.
What, leave you, leave you? How could I leave you?
What would I do on my own? Putting thoughts of you aside.
In the south of France, would I think of suicide?
Darling, shall we dance? Could I live through the pain,
On a terrace in Spain? Would it pass? It would pass.
Could I bury my rage with a boy half your age,
In the grass? Bet your ass.
But I've done that already or didn't you know, love?
Tell me, how could I leave when I left long ago, love?
Could I leave you? No, the point is, could you leave me?
Well, I guess you could leave me the house, leave me the flat.
Leave me the Braques and Chagalls and all that,
You could leave me the stocks for sentiment's sake.
And ninety percent of the money you make,
And the rugs and the cooks, darling, you keep the drugs.
Angel, you keep the books, honey, I'll take the grand,
Sugar you keep the spinet and all of our friends and,
Just wait a goddamn minute.
Oh, leave you? Leave you? How could I leave you?
Sweetheart, I have to confess, could I leave you? Yes.
Will I leave you? Will I leave you? Guess!"
It would be glorious.

Re: Songs You Want Glee To Sing
Well, if the show deigns to give Kurt a solo this season (and I'm not optimistic given that he had one fucking solo last season), I'd like it to be this song. Is a favorite of mine and the original key would fit smack in the middle of Chris's vocal comfort zone. I also think that the message is appropriate for Kurt's storyline... that no matter what idiot hoops they're going to make him jump through, he's still going to soar high when all this is over.

Re: Songs You Want Glee To Sing
With Kurt having no real friends left right now, this is a song I would like him to sing (not that Glee would let him).
Originally it's from Randy Newman, but although the man is an excellent songwriter he's an awful singer imo, so I chose Neil Diamond's version instead:
"I Think It's Going To Rain Today"
Broken windows and empty hallways
A pale dead moon in the sky streaked with gray
Human kindness is overflowing
And I think it's going to rain today
Scarecrows dressed in the latest styles
With frozen smiles to chase love away
Human kindness is overflowing
And I think it's going to rain today
Lonely, lonely
Tin can at my feet
Think I'll kick it down the street
That's the way to treat a friend
Bright before me the signs implore me
To help the needy and show them the way
Human kindness is overflowing
And I think it's going to rain today

Re: Songs You Want Glee To Sing
This isn't the kind of music that Glee would ever do and I'm debating whether or not I'd want to hear Chris sing it (though I think that he could with his range - Jenna as well). But the meaning of the song is just so... Kurt, encapsulating his life journey.
When the dark wood fell before me
And all the paths were overgrown
When the priests of pride say there is no other way
I tilled the sorrows of stone
I did not believe because I could not see
Though you came to me in the night
When the dawn seemed forever lost
You showed me your love in the light of the stars
Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless
Please remember me
Then the mountain rose before me
By the deep well of desire
From the fountain of forgiveness
Beyond the ice and fire
Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless
Please remember me
Though we share this humble path, alone
How fragile is the heart
Oh give these clay feet wings to fly
To touch the face of the stars
Breathe life into this feeble heart
Lift this mortal veil of fear
Take these crumbled hopes, etched with tears
We'll rise above these earthly cares
Cast your eyes on the ocean
Cast your soul to the sea
When the dark night seems endless
Please remember me
Please remember me
