Re: Chris Colfer Appreciation Thread!--part 7
Here is the entire Bliss interview.
Chris’ wishing well - Mr Colfer on whale noises, wishes and weird stories
Sometimes, we find it hard to believe that celebs are busy. Seeing them on beach does not make us think “You work very hard”, but Chris Colfer is another story. He does Glee, he does movies and now he does book-writing too. His novel, a story about wishing, made us ask him all about, er… stories and wishing. We should warn you now, keep the Christmas bubles out of his reach and don’t believe any excuse he gives you. Ever.
Do you ever wish you were invisible?
"Oh, every day! That sound fantastic. Especially on days when I’m like, ‘Ugh, I do not look good today, I do not want to be photographed eating a bagel!’ I’d love just to be invisible and walk around?"
If you could wish yourself away, where would you like to go right now?
"Maybe a nice resort with bike trails and animals nearby? Relaxing."
Have you ever wished you could be someone else?
"Oh, every day! I mean who doesn’t want to be Helen Mirren? I would just follow her, see where she hangs out, I’d just walk in her shoes. Or slightly behind shoes."
Ever wished you’d done something and regretting not doing it?
“I hope this doesn’t start a frenzy, but sometimes I’m afraid that if I don’t do an album, I’ll regret not doing it, but we’ll see, I’m unconvinced.”
Once you finish all the books and all the films…
"Yeah, once i finish the books and movies and the TV shows, perhaps I’ll focus on that."
And maybe get some sleep in between.
"It’ll be a sleep therapy album!"
Yeah just whale noises…
Yeah! Called Songs of Chris Colfer Sleeping.
If you could have one wish granted, what would you wish for right now?
"Maybe good health? No, amazing genes! For an amazing metabolism, amazing skin, and an amazing body without having to lift a finger. That’s what I’d wish for."
What would be your fairytale date?
"Ooh, a theme park and lots of food!"
Would you go when other people weren’t there, do a date night?
"A theme park or a bike ride sounds fun on a date. I guess you don’t get to socialize with your date that much… pretty sure my ideal date is with myself! Just screaming and having a good time."
What’s the weirdest story you’ve read about yourself?
"That I got killed by a fruit truck."
What a way to go.
"I know but it’s a pretty interesting way to go. I think the story was that I crashed my Lexus into the back of a truck carrying oranges, and then the avalanche of citrus crushed me, to which I was like, ‘I don’t drive a Lexus?’"*laughs*
What did you think when you read that story?
"It’s funny because with all my co-stars on Glee, the stories are always. ‘This person’s shacking up with this person’, or whatever. And mine is I got killed by a fruit truck!"
If we were to speak to your mom, what kind of stories would she tell us about you?
"One Christmas, I was throwing all the ornaments off the tree. I’d take one off and throw it and it would shatter… Mom caught me and said, ‘What are you doing?’ and I said, ‘They don’t bounce!’ I don’t know why, but that’s her favorite story to tell about me."
Have you ever been late to the set of Glee and had to make up a story to explain why you were late?
“I’m always late, but it’s usually only by about five to 10 minutes. The assistant director always calls me as soon as I’m, like, one second late to find out where I am, so I start making up stories. Like, ‘Oh, I had to break up this fight between two inner-city kids,’ ‘I had to rescue this dog, I’m so sorry!’ Or, ‘This old lady was walking in the street and she was blind and didn’t have a cane, so I had to help her…’”
"I crashed into some citrus fruit…"
"Yeah, ‘I drove my Lexus into a fruit truck and now I’m dead!’"

Never heard before that rumour that Chris died because he crushed with a fruit track ...What's going on with the media?

I think he mentioned it in an interview once. Some of the things people make up.brisallie wrote:Never heard before that rumour that Chris died because he crushed with a fruit track ...What's going on with the media?

Why would his one wish be something he already has? This man is going to be the death of me.
Re: Chris Colfer Appreciation Thread!--part 7
^Chris was overweight when he was a kid, and it took him a lot of exercise and a diet to get to the body he has now. His skin burns very easily, plus you could often see on Glee that he had a lot of acne in the first seasons.
I think he still has to work out a lot to keep his body in shape and to keep his skin smooth.
There goes a lot of effort in looking acceptable in Hollywood.

Because he hasn't? He said 'without having to lift a finger'. He has great genes, yes, that have favoured him with gorgeous eyes, wonderful bone structure and the basic components to acquire a great body but really he has worked hard for that body from a chubby teen and there is no shame in that. All the respect actually.ColdFlame96 wrote:Why would his one wish be something he already has? This man is going to be the death of me.

I didnt see the "without having to lift a finger" part. I have a lot of respect for him for taking such good care of himself. It's amazing that he doesn't realize how gorgeous he is though , even after all this time. I think he still sees himself as the slightly overweight teenager who looks like a 12 year old. That's fine. I still see myself as a high schooler sometimes too.Georgette888 wrote:Because he hasn't? He said 'without having to lift a finger'. Agree. But he might looks more then acceptable for society, but I'm not sure abut Hollywood standardsColdFlame96 wrote:Well, I can honestly say that he looks more than acceptable now.Glorfindel wrote:^Chris was overweight when he was a kid, and it took him a lot of exercise and a diet to get to the body he has now. Re: Chris Colfer Appreciation Thread!--part 7
Chris is more than acceptable for Hollywood. He's obviously attractive with the eyes, bone structure and lithe body, but more importantly he's really talented. People far less attractive than he is make it. I have no doubt that Chris will succeed.brisallie wrote:Agree. I think even by Hollywood standards he's gorgeous and it is noticed. Glee and his writing and his own movie projects take most of his time, but Chris himself has said he gets offers he's had to turn down because of time constraints.

This comes totally out of the left field with no particular reason, just sheer curiosity, but does anyone know Chris religious belief? I just had to remind myself he is not Kurt and therefore not automatically an atheist. Just wondering.

I am not sure what Chris religious belief is, but do know his grandmother is a Minister. Not sure if she is his Dad's mom or is mom's mom. I seem to remember reading she allowed Chris to sing "Defying Gravity," in church after his school did not allow him, or something like that.Lottie2303 wrote:This comes totally out of the left field with no particular reason, just sheer curiosity, but does anyone know Chris religious belief? Re: Chris Colfer Appreciation Thread!--part 7
He was exposed to organized religion growing up. IIRC, his grandmother is a minister and allowed him to sing "Defying Gravity" at her church.Lottie2303 wrote:This comes totally out of the left field with no particular reason, just sheer curiosity, but does anyone know Chris religious belief? One quote:
No idea if he actually believes in God or not at this point. While he’s now an all-singing, all dancing part of the Glee club, Chris admits music wasn't necessarily the direction he planned to take.
“As a kid my and my older cousin sang in my grandmother’s church, and she moved away, so my grandmother said, ‘it’s your turn to sing in church,’ and so I’d sing in church. In high school and in school plays I had to sing, but it was something I never wanted to pursue, I just knew it was something I could do if I had to.”
He did say this in the Actor Studio's interview about God talking to him in the afterlife:
Question: If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?
Chris: "Don't listen to them. You get to go in too."

This UK interview has been quoted before but it excites me for what he has planned:

http://shows.stv.tv/this-morning/showbiz/229673-chris-colfer-talks-glee-his-best-selling-book-being-struck-by-lightning/
I don't think we have to worry about Chris stepping away from acting anytime soon. I remind myself that if Glee ends after season 6 Chris will be the ripe old age of 25.So what’s next on the agenda for the ambitious young star, aside from shooting series five of Glee?
“Many more movies, a few more books. I’ve written three books and I’ve done quite a bit ,but I still a few more I want to do.”

Re: Chris Colfer Appreciation Thread!--part 7
Thanks a lot for the answers. I saw Karyn Colfer added to her Twitter profile "Having Faith isn't a word but a lifestyle!!". Also someone on tumblr said he and Will had a similar experience with faith and religion (I have really no idea how people know that).
Overall, good for him for not defining it to the public. I guess it could stir quite a discussion.
But again, sheer curiosity, how do you guys perceive him as? I see him as agonist, and wonder, if it is only the case because it is my personal belief.

Way back in an interview with Amber, they were asked about being religious. He asked if it counted if he said, "Jesus" when he dropped something on his foot. lol So I get the feeling that he isn't that much of a religious person even if he was brought up to be. He may believe in God perhaps. On occasion he has referenced God in non-religious contexts but not a church goer.

@Lottie, what is an agonist? do you meant "agnostic"?
Personally I've always believed he's christian, because if I recall he mentioned something about prayers when happened the earthquack in Japan. Besides it seems he's from a religious family, but probably he's not someone who's into religion or church too much, like lots of youngster today.

Re: Chris Colfer Appreciation Thread!--part 7
Chris just strikes me as someone reticent about disclosing anything personal, so his not talking in detail about his (if any) spiritual values doesn't surprise me. His parents say he didn't like to connect them to his projects even before Glee.
Chris was careful about Will until apparently months after they were going around and even now is fairly discrete about what he has said publicly. Ditto the Cory Monteith tragedy.
I like how he doesn't feel he has to disclose his private life to his fans, which when you read between the lines, is something that drives some of those so called "fans" crazy and annoys them. .
He can get biting and snarky at times with his comments, and I like that. I don't always agree with him but as someone in Glee (Jane/Anders/Matt? ?) said when asked to describe Chris in one word ..."Honest".

Sometimes I don't get why people need to know every single detail of celebrities life? I got it, thanks to social media we know more about them than five years ago, but is still up to them how much they share or not with fans. And as regards Chris, he's known as someone who likes to protect his privacy, and if we have found out about his relationship for instance, is because he started to give some hints. And because the CSI fans.

BTW, I agree with your opinion. I also value Chris for actually keeping his life private and for instance his religious belief to himself. It is after all not our business. I still wonder why I suddenly needed today an answer to this question

Re: Chris Colfer Appreciation Thread!--part 7
I'm not sure if it's a religious thing or more of a theatre superstition thing, but in one of the videos of the 2010 live tour Chris made a cross with his hand (touching his forehead, chest, shoulders) before going on stage.
But I like him not giving too much of his private life away, and that includes his religious beliefs.
I think he's very smart that way, because he never tells anything he doesn't want to reveal, but he also never lies. He is indeed honest, but has no problem diverting a question in such a way that he doesn't have to give a very personal answer. Clever, and something I admire him greatly for.
