Episode description from the DVD:

It's fall and that means back-to-school for the students and faculty of McKinley High. The New Directions clan returns after a devasting loss at Nationals, so Mr. Schuester assigns a project to get them back on track. Meanwhile, Sue Sylvester starts her congressional campaign with an anti-arts platform.

Still I remember this episode as the beginning of the promise land, when writers said they were going back to its roots and were gonna be focused on the seniors.

Since I am a glutton for punishment, and it is my goal to have watch and discussion threads for all Glee episodes, I'm going to start watching season 3 again.  Lucky, this board started in the middle of season 3, so I don't have to watch them all if I don't want to.  So here goes:

The Jacob Ben Isreal interviews are always fun. I love the Kurt and Rachel stuff.  Chris definitely pulled focus in that scene with is expressions and motions.

Poor Finn with the multicolored slushy.

The Wemma scene was crazy. They were like a couple married for 50 years.

Why's the T-Rex eating the Jew.  hehe. 

I know some people liked Lauren, but I was glad she left as a regular. I hated the character.

Love Kurt's enthusiam about the purple piano.

Emma's pamphlets are awesome.  Me and My Hag.  haha.

Wait what?

I miss crazy ranting Sue.  I like Sue filled with rage.  We didn't get enough of that in season four.  Jane must love getting to destroy stuff.

Gosh, Chris looks so young in the Lima Bean scene. This may be the last Dapper Blaine scene on Glee.  I just didn't like Darren's acting choices in this scene for some reason.  He just didn't make me think that he actually liked Kurt.

Pink hair queen was crazy. Dianna did a nice job of making Quinn different from who she was.  Her attitude and body language was so different than Quinn.

Will bringing up his relationship in the office with Sue and Figgy was just silly. Why would he talk about his sex life in front of Sue?  You'd think he'd learn.

Oh, the innuendo in the conversation with Santana. Which team do you play for?

We got the beat was a fun group number.  Fun to watch, well done.  Kurt hiding behind the tray is hysterical

Sugar can't sing, but she sold the number.  hehe. 

Ding Dong the Witch is Dead was so much fun. Chris and Lea at their best. I loved the performance vocally and visually.  Chris was doing some serious shimmying. This is why I always say Chris is the biest performer in the cast. He always sells a number, and makes it so fun.  This is when I love Hummelberry.  Chris and Lea are really fantastic together in just about everything they do. 

Watching Sue holding Cheerios tryouts just reminds me of how much of a formula Glee had. I mean, seriously, did RIB just create the original outline for their concept, and then repeat it every year. How on earth will they start season five if they can't follow the concept.

Can we call Blaine's styple GrandToddler Chic?  I'm surprised that they didn't give Blarren pink sunglasses.  I love Kurt's little rambling excitement. 

And here we have the attention whore doing what attention whores do both.  Oh, and the squeeze your legs to so you don't pee dance move.  And of course big time Derp faces.  And this is the thing that bugs me about the charcterization of Blaine. The glee club performs, people ignore them, and throw food at them.  Blarren performs, everyone stops to watch, and the Cheerios join in to dance with him. 

What is up with Rachel's CD player?

A roomful of annoying Kurt and Rachel's.  The Gavrosh kid looks like Will Forte from Saturday Night Live.

Lindsey from the Glee project does have a nice Broadway voice.  Why would they keep Alex or Damian on long term over her.  RIB are idiots. And Kurt's little squeak at the end is hysterical.

I love the Hummelberry car scene.  I love everything Kurt says here.  The comment about being hot stuff in Lima, and but outside of Lima not outside of Lima is right on for so many kids.  Being the best in your town doesn't make you the best outside. I love the way Kurt snapped out of his disappointment, and I love the way they supported each other.  They are great friends.  Gay high five.  hehe.  That had to be ad libbed.

You'd think someone as OCD as Emma would need to sleep on the same side of the bed every night.

I worked that song like a hooker pole.  hehe.  Oh Sugar.

God, Darren is a bad actor.

I am disappointed that they didn't play up the Finn/Blaine rivalry up more.  Rewatching this season is going to remind me of how many wasted opportunities RIB had to develop Blaine.  Making him feel rivalry for coming in would have been great chance to develop his character and develop him in relationships with other characters.

They sure like making Tina be the voice of reason don't they.

"You Can't Stop The Beat" was fun once they finished Rachel's solo part.  It was just too long.  But I do love the fun group numbers to end an episode.
