ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS comedienne Jennifer Saunders has revealed at a Welsh festival the film adaption of the cult comedy will be released next year.

Show creator Jennifer, aged 55, who played Edina Monsoon alongside co-star Joanna Lumley, said she was in the process of writing the movie at the Hay Festival.

Glee star Chris Colfer, 23, is expected to be among the stars in the movie.

Jennifer, who was speaking about her book Bonkers: My Life in Laughs, at the Hay Festival, said: “I am writing the film as we speak – it’s in the pipeline.

Let's hope that it's not just wishful thinking from Jennifer Saunders but there's an actual, solid deal made and dates planned.

Considering what a fan Chris is of the show and the mutual admiration society that he and the comediennes have going on, this isn't too much of a surprise but still very welcome and happy news. So this is now two movie that Chris will be doing in the next year.

Am curious to know what they'll have him doing. With his commitment to Glee I'm not sure if it would be a major part but I'd like to see him playing an actual character and not just appearing as "himself".

It could very well be.   

We won't know until the screen play is finished.

If she's just writing the screenplay it could easily be 6 plus months before they actually start filming, at which time Chris will probably be through filming Glee.

Noticed it too, lol. But I'm not one to talk, as in the thread I made about the Noel Coward movie I put "biotopic" in its title instead of "biopic". 
And noone noticed it for many days!

As far as Chris related, I confess as much wishful/hopeful thinking as anything at this point:

Brace yourselves darlings, Eddie and Patsy could be heading to the big screen this year. 
Absolutely Fabulous creator and writer Jennifer Saunders, who also plays the hapless Edina 'Eddie' Monsoon in the long running BBC comedy, told the Sunday People that she has completed a script for the long rumored movie. 
"I’ve finished the first draft. I’m feeling euphoric," she said, adding: "[m]y proper New Year’s resolution is to do the film, otherwise it’ll be a pointless year of procrastination."

She mentioned before she promised a  role for Chris in the planned ABFAB movie so keeping our fingers crossed....

As Chris will probably only get a little role in the movie, and Jennifer will hurry the production so they can start filming before the summer, then maybe Chris can do his part right after he filmed 'Noel'.

Although I don't think he'd mind coming back to London for the Fab Ab movie, but he'll probably has more scheduled this year, so it all comes down to availability and planning.

OK, Chris holds everything close to the vest, but the fact that he specifically again mentioned the AB FAB movie on James Corden's late late show as in Jennifer promised him a role is a very good sign, since we know the screenplay of the AF FAB movie has been completed for months.
