Glee Drabbles Empty Glee Drabbles

Post  Delight 6/3/2012, 10:21 am

So I've embarked on writing 100-word drabbles to pass the time during the hiatus...

A note to people who wish to contribute to this thread:

Feel free to post any 100-word drabble you want in this thread, as long as it's Glee related (and preferably Kurt-centric). The stories don't have to be linked, and it should have its own title. The words of the title would not go towards the 100-word count. You can also add in a summary/description of the story if you wish.

Later on, we may decide to come up with themes for the drabbles, but I just want to see how this will turn out first.

ADDIT: A few of you may have noticed that some of the posts that were originally in this thread had been moved to a separate thread (the multi-contributor Glee fanfic thread). This had been done because those individual posts had become part of a longer story, and that hadn't been what I had in mind for this thread. It's my mistake for not being clearer in the first place Embarassed

All in all, if any of you here are into writing stories of the short 100-word variety, do jump on board and let your imagination run free. Wink

Kurt hated losing

"I didn't get in."

The taste of rejection was familiar and bitter on his tongue. The Senior Class Presidency. The role of Tony for the school musical. The solos.

The dreams he had of leaving Lima for a life in New York, which had sustained him throughout high school, now hovered out of his reach, mocking his inability to reach it.

"I got in."

The words from Rachel's mouth should've incited joy on her behalf, but it only transformed his feelings of disappointment to that of defeat. It shouldn't have, but it did.

Kurt hated her a little for that.

Love is a friendship set to music

He's not picky, really. He merely knows the specific characteristics of his soulmate better than most people.

Must love music. That's non-negotiable. Good skin care. He can't stand scruffy guys. Unique fashion sense. Perfectly coiffed hair is optional, but definitely a bonus. Throw in a bubbly laugh and a great personality (he's not entirely shallow after all), and there won't be any more doubt left in his mind that they belong together.

He takes a deep breath and steps out from behind the display stand.

"Excuse me? I'm so sorry to bother you, but that hippopotamus head brooch is awesome."

Unconditional

In the early days, thoughts of 'if only' plagued you. If only he wasn't so strange, so alien. If only he wasn't fascinated with tea parties and tiaras. If only he wasn't into girl songs or fashion. If only his voice wasn't high-pitched.

Later, it became 'if there's one thing I would change about him, it would be this.' The world's a harsh place filled with cruel people. You didn't want to see him get hurt.

Finally, when your acceptance became something so much more, you realized there's nothing you would want to change about him.

Not a single thing.

Lingering

Exhausted from crying, the boy on the floor finally fell asleep.

The drawers of the broken dresser were open. The scent of perfume lingered in the air.

She recognized the perfume. It was a gift from her husband for their first wedding anniversary. A year after that, her husband had given her another gift. An infinitely more precious gift. She looked down at the sleeping boy and desperately wished that she could have more time with him. Eight years were hardly enough.

She stroked the boy's hair, not caring that her insubstantial hand couldn't leave any physical sensation of touch.

Love-hate

He met the love of his life in kindergarten-- a pretty boy with pink cheeks. He made a drawing of a hundred hearts with red crayon and handed it to the boy, who immediately ripped it in half. It could've been a drawing of unicorns and rainbows and it still would've been ripped apart, but he was too young to know that. He only knew that he disliked effeminate guys with a passion from that day onwards.

"I don't like you."

The look of contempt in the gaze levelled at him mirrored his own. "Fun. I don't like you either."
