Ah... and from the winter of our Kurt discontent comes the Summer of Chris. All will be well.
Hey, he's going to walk back into that studiio a GREAT BIG DEAL. They don't dare shortchange Kurt after that. :-)

- Glee's Chris Colfer to Promote Land of Stories Book at Barnes & Noble Union Square -
Chris Colfer, who is well known for playing Kurt Hummel on the hit FOX series Glee, will make an appearance at Barnes & Noble Union Square (33 East 17th Street) at 7pm on Wednesday, July 18 for a talk and signing of his new book, The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell.
The book, which is due to be released on July 17, tells the tale of twins Alex and Conner Bailey, who leave the real world behind, through the mysterious powers of a cherished book of stories, and find themselves in a foreign land full of wonder and magic where they come face-to-face with the fairy tale characters they grew up reading about.
In addition to his work on Glee, for which he received a Golden Globe Award and two Emmy Award nominations, Colfer appeared in the staged reading of Dustin Lance Black's 8 and wrote and co-starred in the film Struck by Lighting.

^Ew, I can imagine. But you can try and see anyway! And then run away if the situation is claustrophobic (when is that way is not even enjoyable).

Re: The Land of Stories Main Thread
I doubt if he will doing international places, but if so I would love it if he came to Melbourne, I missed seeing him in 2009 and he was here. Granted I wasn't watching Glee until 2010.
But then I think of all the pics and video's I will be able to see, and read the stories of fans. I least I'll have that to look forward to.

Sigh, I don't suppose he'd come to Ottawa, we often get passed by and people go to Montreal or Toronto instead.

Re: The Land of Stories Main Thread
If he makes it across the water to Seattle, I will venture the long drive to see him. Vancouver, that would be a couple of hours, I would have to think about that, but if I were off the next day I might just get a hotel room and make a weekend of it, well, depending if it were on the weekend, that is a huge factor.

Some opinion about TLOS from tumblr
Anonymous asked: Hey! Since you're reading TLOS at the moment (and you give non-biased reviews on things) I was wondering what your thoughts were so far on TLOS? Particularly what Chris' writing style is like and if you think he was successful with said style. Thanks!

- Spoiler:
I will write a proper review on the proper blog when I am done, but it’s worth saying as someone who isn’t particularly a YA lit fan (and I wasn’t even when I was the target market) this is a weird read for me, as it’s not even YA, but targeted a little younger (my guess is ages 8 - 10?). So in many ways I am not the ideal reader of this.
I think the voice in the opening section that people have seen previews of online is the strongest voice the book has (the full narration is not in that tone/perspective) thus far, because it’s interesting and unique, powerful and a little disturbing.
The overall narration gets big points for using compelling word choices in language that’s still easy to read and grade appropriate, and I like the characters.
There are a lot of funny allusions and similes that if you read Colfer’s tweets come off as very him. So I think fans will enjoy that.
The prose is at times surprisingly elegant. My favorite line so far is the opening of chapter 5, “Alex was no longer in her bedroom. She was falling into a world of light.”
The book also has a lot of content about being different. And how that’s both good and bad. Everyone in the book so far talks about being different, often in the context of being a “freak.”
At it’s core, it’s incredibly satirical, both about our world, and the stories and lies our world tells to children. In that, it captures, I think the profound sense of frustration precocious kids and smart people (and the book shows off many different types of smart, which is cool) in general feel about a world that isn’t very accepting of their need to push back against it.
It’s the frustration that lingers, so far. And that’s interesting and peculiar. Like SBL, this book is a strange beast, and its ability to linger makes it seem weightier than one would expect.

Re: The Land of Stories Main Thread
credit card companies usually have protection against frauds. if you give htem money and they never ship the product you can complain. i have encountered that once and the c card company always protect the buyers. but that's for ccard companies in US. Since master and visas are world wide I assume they are the same everywhere too. if not sure ask your credic card company for info.
if you don't mind paying for shipping that's almost twice as much, I say go ahead. the chance of that book selling in your country maybe none.
try not to send your credit card info via email. Email is not secure. if you must send it via email you should cancel that card as soon as they shipped and charged it (you can declare your card lost and the company will send you a replacement w a different number). meanwhile monitor your account activity to see if someone has used it w/o your authorization.
